The second quote you took from my post was very cold and unfriendly. Just like that poster is about police officers with no intellect about them other than what he reads in the generally liberal media of today.

How else is a dog supposed to be " contained" other than in a fenced yard? In other words, according to rocky, people don't have a right to allow their dog inside their own fenced yard, just in case the cops need to trespass during a chase. So, nobody actually "owns" their property anymore ?

Ahhh the benefits of living outside the city limits................Not only that, I think it is a crock for them to trespass on anyone's property I don't give a damn who they are chasing AND if they do and they get bit they damn sure don't have a right to kill anyone's dog. PERIOD. The law is a leash law or for your animals to be contained. But WTF now? Sorry if it happened to me, the whole world would know it and I guarantee something would be done.
One more thing I will add, I don't care who they are chasing or what they did, if the criminal-according to them--comes in my yard they are going to get the same so there would be no reason for them to tresspass.................And I have friends that are LEOS and K9 handlers--my first mentor was a K9 handler/breeder--I have nothing but respect for them....on the flip side of the coin it seems there are many more officers that have forgotten the "protect and serve" and think that badge makes them above the common people. I want toshare this. I have a 1/2 cousin who has a son who was a deputy here. Very very cruel man who definately thought he was above the law. He is now fired and has 6 federal lawsuits against him and they are being pressured to file criminal charges against him. Why? Well we can start with going to arrest a teenaged girl and he beat the hell out of her. Young man who suffers from epilepsy was at a local convenience store and started having a seizure--they called for help--yep Craig beat the hell out of him too--BUT what cooked his goose was there was a reporter from OK City news in the parking lot. Yep got it all on camera and that's when the feds came in and it all came to a screeching halt. The other 4 suits are basically the same thing................I'm ashamed to say I am even halfway related to those people. I could cite other incidents but I am not going to go on and on. Just my 2 cents this morning.

That's pretty cold, Rocky. My husband died 9 years ago. The horror stories I could tell you about the dating scene since he died would fill a book.  I have no kids. I do not treat my dogs like children: they are not allowed on the bed or furniture, and have advanced obedience training. Since I live alone, in a rural area, I WANT my dogs to bark when someone comes to the door. If the person at the door happens to be a police officer, I only need to take 3 steps to secure my dogs in another room. I will be in full view of the officers while I do that, and they'd damn well better give me the time to do it.

I am severely hearing impaired. Both my house dogs have hearing ear dog training, and replacing them will take a lot longer than 4 to 6 months!  They are FAR more than 'just pets' to me!  Angry Smile

Rocky, when you "advise" people not to leave their dog in their back yard, are you actually implying that people don't have right to their own property? And "train it for emergencies"? Like, train the dog to KNOW the difference between a cop who is trespassing from a NON- cop? That is, when you have your dog in your own back yard for the couple minutes you imply they are allowed to occupy it (gotta keep the yard empty fir when the cops might need to trespass).
Where are you from, Rocky, some police state- communist country- haven't adjusted to the free world yet hole?

SS, Jenni didn't say those things, she was quoting rocky.

Sunsilver, I'd sure rather sell a dog to someone like you than to someone like Rocky who will just "get a new one" if it gets shot by some over-zealous cop who's trespassing in it's own yard! Angry Smile

Rocky, you act like your fiance was forced into the job or he just does it for the good of humanity. He chose it as his profession. You take the job knowing the risks. You have free will. You make decisions while on the job. To say I strongly disagree that your fiance should've shot the dog IN HIS OWN YARD who wasn't happy about a trespasser (ie, your fiance) would be an understatement. There are intelligent, sensitive, police officers out there. There are also over-compensating meatheads who were picked on in high school who have more ammo than brains. They're really easy to spot. I like to protect my dogs from the second category. I consider them securely inside my fenced yard to be safe enough and your callousness is appalling. I'm glad your fiance seems to have more sense and compassion than you do.

Joan, I edited my post already. Didn't realize she was quoting Meathead...er...Rocky!

Thanks for the kind words, Jenni!  I was pretty shocked when I mistakenly thought you were the one saying such nasty things!  Omg Smile

by joanro on 31 October 2013 - 14:10

The more times I read rocky's posts, the more I can see where the bad cops come from...a weak wifey who is constantly saying, 'WATCH OUT!! DANGER !! DANGER!! '
Tell you what, rocky, why do you do society a favor, and talk your hubbin into quitting.

The thing is Rocky, there are a lot of unqualified cops out there and it shows.
I know, well have known a few really great cops, and a lot more who should have never been allowed the chance.

You may not trade a dogs life for a humans that's fine but what about the needless loss of human life?
You got a pat answer for that?

I did look at your posts...you mentioned it once before.
You should speak up more and lurk less.

Moons.
