In next twenty years, I see the GS being reduced to probably less than 20% of LE dogs. The primary breeds will be breeds that breeders don't have to have titled dogs to be considered reputable. People may cringe at that thought, but I dare say the future will bring this about.

@"....I dare say the future will bring this about."
Yes, I think so as well. The gs people have been their own worst enemy, IMO.

We need to lobby the need for dog sport. We need to connect with law enforcement as a united  lobby. We must support the identification of breeding stock which have the desired traits required for working dogs of the future. The protection work is one of the tests which needs to be supported. The brokers who sell dogs to the police and military are not blindly searching in Europe for these dogs. There is a network of breeders, trainers, and buyers brought together by an established dog sport community in Europe. Any effort to diminish dog sport is an attack on our breed and the few other breeds who will work for our national and international protection. The wish to have a ''good protection dog'' in your own back yard is one of those ''right to pursue happiness'' things. If owning a '' tough dog'' is your only cause , you have allowed yourself to be inconsequential . Support our dog clubs by demanding they pay attention to this serious threat to our methodology of testing breed worthiness. At the moment ''stopping the stick work in IPO''  might be just internet folly, but be certain there is always a threat to our sport.

The " threat to our sport" ....could be the need of some "clubs" to hide their "training" from the public and many of their own club members has something to do with the " sport" being in jeopardy of becoming abolished in part and eventually in whole.

not certain if there is a significant percentage of viewers of this chat board interested in this affront to dog sport. We must lobby to the public the need for working dogs. We must be aware of our impact on the breeding of working dogs. We have the same argument as the NRA has, to the challenges they meet. Guns do not kill people, people kill people. Dog training competitions do not abuse dogs, [misinformed] people harm dogs. Where can this lobby get a foot hold?

A good stick hit can be heard it does not have to be seen. I,ve asked helpers at trials that I have participated in to "pound in the stick hits" I want my dogs hit but I also want my dogs tested thats why in training I still have reed sticks and bamboo sticks used on the dogs. They can,t effect how I train. And the way most helpers apply the stick hits there pretty much non existant anyhow. It,s not about the test it,s about money in the pocket and weaker dogs. We have the SV and the FCI to thank for that. I,d love to see UScA come up with a independent breed test one with real stressors to show the dogs Ability,Agility, Heart and Courage and Physical Soundness.

"dog training competitions" ???? And all the while I was under the impression that "sport competition" was to test a dog's suitability for breeding. But in actuality, "sport" is a training test. So, train away the weaknesses in the dogs and you wind up with the same results of not testing. Therefore it doesn't matter if the stick hits remain, they are for show anyway. Numb nuts "training" for points in competitions abuse dogs. If they were truly "misinformed", they would not feel compelled to hide their "training".

" Numb Nuts" Thats unchristian like!!! Hahaha

; NRA issues = dog sport problems. Think a little before just throwing stones at organized dog sport and clubs. 1] I want a gun in my house to keep the bad guys out. US  constitution says I can have it!  extreme possibility the gun in your home is found by a visiting child and he harms himself, therefore you should not have this gun.2] I only have hunting guns. 3] I only have target competition guns. 4] i only have a little 22 hand gun. These anti-gun nuts can not possibly want my gun, can they? How will you keep some one elses agenda from keeping your right to bear arms from becoming a reality? Blame the target shooters?
