Hired Dog

by Hired Dog on 24 March 2014 - 15:03

So, you started this thread for ONE dog that your girlfriend asked you to help, you bad mouthed a shelter somewhere, several people you dont know, all in hopes that someone will what....
Are you dedicated to saving "starfish" or dogs...great, hop on a plane, go to where this dog is supposed to be, spend the money it requires and do the "legwork" needed and find the truth you are seeking. It seems to me that is what the guy in your story did...
In closing, obsessions about anything are never healthy...many other sad stories started that way too, good luck and take care.

I am inclined to believe that the dog is safe and is where they say she is.  I'm skeptical that, if the shelter was attempting to cover up some sort of malfeaseance, they couldn't have found someone a little closer to home than several hours away to do so.  I also note that Barb and I share a couple of FB friends, one of whom is a fellow club member and the director of the state DHS's SAR training academy so Barb is connected to the area's SAR community on some level.  I'll ask about her this weekend if it comes to mind.

Thanks Keith! I really don't think anyone was 'obsessing' over this dog more than any other, just trying to sort through the, well, confusion that occurred after several conflicting stories were posted from different folks. And I have a hard time looking at the rescue pictures, you truly can see the soul of a dog through his/her eyes, & it's just heartbreaking sometimes. If I had the money, I'd take them all in. And there is where the worry about Lexi came from, somebody wanted her, & the shelter wouldn't allow her to be rehomed. To me, while I understand about our litigious society & shelters worries about liability, I just have a hard time with offering a dog for adoption-then saying no. You have to wonder why...?
Ï certainly hope she is with your club member, as I wish all shelter dogs get the help & homes they need. We're lucky, & I'm grateful, that we have a wonderful shelter in our area. The staffers know & love bully breeds, & they are treated well. jackie harris

Without a doubt in my mind this Barb gave this dog a second chance.  Have no idea why there is no leap in faith.  Hope Lexie continues to do well.  Environmental deprivation perhaps.  Maybe also a genetic component.  Good luck Barb and thank you for trying.

Jackie,
I couldn't agree more with what you wrote!!!
I hope you are well, also! :)

Jon,
You're doing a great job! Keep in touch. (And, I can back you up on the Anti-Cruelty info.)
Hopefully all is resolved soon.
Keith your info will be much appreciated by those of us who have been trying to figure out what has happened to Lexi.

Hired Dog,
You have nothing good to say here.
Move along!
Then you can continue with your obsession telling everyone in each of your boring posts about the great and all powerful Malinois, the only true working breed, the one you have chosen as a breed and how you think you are the first person to own one in the United States.
(Blah, blah, blah, Malinois, blah blah, blah............................................................................Malinois, blah, blah, blah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

OGBS-thank you! I'm okay...
Sunshine, nice to hear you here!
And excuse my manners, or lack thereof; if indeed Barb has Lexi, God bless her, & may they have a long & happy life together!

OGBS...you are funny. If you find my posts boring, please dont read them. I do love the Malinois and I do consider it the epitome of what a WORKING dog is, however, I am not "married" to my breed nor am I blind to its faults.
I am currently raising and training a GSD as my next working dog, however, someday, when you grow up, you too can own a Malinois, I will even help you find the right one for your needs, take care.

"I will even help you find the right one for your needs..."

I can help!  Jagger left three Malinois puppies out in the yard on our walk this morning.    <...runs for cover...>

Keith, I would need proof of that...after all, A LOT of Malinois do look like GSD dogs in shape ONLYWink Smile....
On a serious note, how is your dog doing?

He's coming along; thanks for asking!
