SitasMom that is very good pic of what i consider a well layed croup and beautiful topline, super! This is what i would want to breed.

They other very strange thing is that these top breeders would get very positive comments on social networks etc. It's either they like that Type of gsd or they have not done enough research etc, its just mind boggling the comments i have read, even from some of the best breeders

This is my boy Duke, he standing, actually ready to piunce that stupid goat, he Iis standing totally natural, with NO roach, (thank God).

I know not the best pic, but you can get an idea of his structure,

I had to get rid rid of the goat. He was a nasty, smelly thing. Duke wanted to kill him. That stupud goat would rear up and charge the dogs, horns pointed, all the time. Knocked me on my ass more than once. The goat thought it was fun, the dogs...not so much! Me either.

This is what "I" like, straight backs, probably to straight for some.

Kitkat, put them in an unnatural stack and you can make them look roached....LOL
The do have short steep croups though....

I find the steep/non-existant croups and/or broken toplines just as nasty as sway backs or dogs walking on hocks, that is to say I am doing my best to NOT buy or breed a dog with any of those things and would be super disappointed if my dog ended up looking like that.  One of my dogs is a WGSL but that in no way means I support the examples posted in this thread because they are WGSL.  I'm sorry but if my dog was like that I'd not be uploading stacked photos and certainly not think it's a positive way to market my dog or breeding program!  It's kind of scary what people think is not only acceptable but *good* and like Waleed said, you'll see people "liking" these photos and commenting "Superb!" on Facebook.  Yikes!

This is my WGSL (the rest of my GSDs have been all working line and I now have a WL/WGSL cross puppy).  He is not perfect, there are a few things I have tried to improve (and conformation-wise with the male I kept back from his first litter I believe we've already achieved some of the things I wanted to change), but I believe he's well balanced, moderately angled, nicely structured specimen.  He is a UKC Champion, V-rated, KKL1.  Croup could maybe be a smidge longer? Maybe not? but it depends on how he's standing, sometimes I look at him and think "wow that's exactly what I want" and other times it looks a tad short and steep.

VKGSDs,

That is a VERY good looking GSD, I agree his croup is SLIGHTLY short, only slightly, but not steep at all, I would expect him to get very good rating for his croup from some judges and only good rating from others.

Allow me OP to go a bit off topic as I feel I should mention an important point usually overlooked by some breeders and VKGSDs latest post brought it to mind.

Type is a term used to describe general look of a dog and its character, while male type/female type describes secondary sex elements/look.

The dog VKGSD posted above has both the good type and the good male type. In my language we describe a male "good looking" and we describe a female "beautiful".  Unintentionally I described this dog "good looking" as he has the male type as everything in him says he is a male.

A puppy is usually more difficult to tell its sex, a young dog is a bit difficult to tell its sex, a mature dog should be easier to tell its sex. Nowadays one looks at a mature dog and often can not tell whether it's a female or male and eye searches inbetween legs for verification. This male, in no way, can be confused for a female, this is important for breeders to keep in mind when selecting a female or male for breeding, sex type should be easily recognizable, male should look like a male and female should look like a female.

This male has both the good type and good male type.
