vk4gsd asks: When was the last shipment of untitled dogs sent FROM anywhere TO germany to improve the german lines?

Since you ask,....my partenr from JINOPO sends dogs to many western coutries including Germany , Holland and so on all the time. Here is one which was send there as a young pup thus untitled:

BZCZ I must agree with Bob . There are many ways to test a dog non of them should hurt the dog of any age. Of course there are reasons  for testing and I do not see many  reason to test 14 years old dog who was already tested. by life and the owner should know such dog in and out. But  I did had some very old dogs and they enjoyed bite work   which was presented to them in a gentle manner. And it was great to see the enjoyment of the work in the old samurai's eyes.

pay it forward. Max v st is dead, A Hahn is dead, R Linder is dead. Roman Schuler, dead.Your moneys can not help them. Pay it forward.  The GSD is alive and if you are not part of a solution, you are part of the problem.

Prager,  You missed the part where he said I could test any of his dogs as a helper and he said I should start with his 14 year old dog so it wasn't too hard on me.

There is no testing as a helper on a dog that couldn't injure his 14 year old dog.

I said it before and I'll say it again.  He has put his ego in front of his dog's welfare.

I would never do that.

BZCZ I think he was just kidding. Humor is what is missing here.  Here are some  harmless  one liners to the rescue .:

Two fish are sitting in a tank. One looks over at the other and says: "Hey, do you know how to drive this thing?"

What do you call a fish with no eye? Fsh.

So a blind man walks into a bar, a bus stop and a fence.

Irishman walks out of a bar.

A cheap circumcision is a total rip-off.

Polygamy is having one wife too many. Monogamy is often the same thing.

Two nuns are riding their bicycles through a small village. One says to the other "oh, I haven't come this way before."

The other nun turns to her and says "it must be the cobblestones."

Well the last one , technically, is not a one liner. But I hope it helps us here to lighten up.

P.S. I hope I did not stray too much from a topic. :)

Prager,

The one liners are funny but he wasn't joking.  He pm'd me his trial schedule so that I can meet him to test his dog.

Maybe off topic right now, but what´s a "big" breeder for you?

For me it´s a person breeding more than 5 litters/year on a regular basis.
Over here 10 litters/year are allowed, and that´s a lot...

By breeding 10 litters/year in these kennels normally are:

  • at least 5 bitches
  • puppies all the time
  • several green dogs, prospects for the future
  • sometimes a stud, too

I don´t believe in quantity=quality. Several breeders started small, breeding high quality dogs, because of these dogs their kennel name became well known, and they started to breed more and more, ending in a lot of dogs - no problem, people still buy them, but QUALITY ???

I don´t think, that dogs should live in a kennel only, I really believe in interaction and quality time for each dog, and I believe in training... Wink Smile
The more dogs, the lesser time for each dog, maybe no neglect, but no good life for the dogs in question, and not enough time to evaluate each single dog. The brood bitches always "staying at home", maybe they are allowed to join the training field once in a while ( 2 times the year ??? ).

A small kennel over here doesn´t make money, but a lot of them are totally honest about there dogs.
No breeding candidate? Okay, no breeding then - no big deal, because they make their money otherwise....

Editing, because I forgot to add: And the bigger the kennel, the younger the dogs - where are the oldtimers, the dogs they made their money with?

VK, even we do import dogs, mostly green dogs or puppies from the Netherlands, Belgium, Czech.
Some people want "fresh blood", some people try to buy "famous names" - no difference to anywhere else.
Not many dogs, though, and most of them don´t become well known later on.
