Susie, the dark spot on the middle of the tail is a rudimentary scent gland. All dogs have it, even toy breeds. It is more noticable in the sable dogs before the agoudi guard hairs come in.

I know - we call it "Violdrüse" ( violet gland ), and in most sables it´s very good visible.
I really thought this "fawn" dog is a young sable - still amazing.

That dog looks like it never grew its outer coat. It is odd.

KitKat, does that site have a 'more' adult pic of that same dog ?  He does look fairly

young / half-grown, still, in the photo by the lake.  I do believe he IS that colour as an

adult - compare with my earlier ref to GSDs being sold as "Golden Shepherds", he

fits that decription perfectly;  but it would further convince any doubters if he can be

shown as an adult.
