Malamutes have and produce light eyes, dark eyes, and all shades in between including hazel depending on their coat color.

To the op, I boarded a gsd years ago which was proportioned as your dog is....the owner's vet neutered him when he was only four months old. The litter mate dog, owned by their son, was not neutered and was of normal proportions. What matters is that you and your family have a dog that fits in with the family and that is priceless.

Sorry joanro, I don't assume I base mine on first hand knowledge.
How many GSD MAL crosses have you owned?

The Malamute a very old breed compared to the GSD?
Thanks for the laugh Joanro. As I said......

Yes Blitzen, I can't wait to hear you tell Joanro how old and ancient a breed the Malamute is compared to the GSD.

In my opinion OP dog is GSD. 100%
FYI: Shiloh is not GSD.

"and 2004 DNA analysis shows that Malamutes are one of the oldest breeds of dog,[10] genetically distinct from other dog breeds."
"The Alaskan Malamute is a member of the Spitz group of dogs, traced back 2,000 to 3,000 years ago to the Mahlemuits tribe of Alaska."
