They call them "mace bulk" German Shepherds...kind of different breed...

I really hope they will change the name into something without "German Shepherd" involved  Sad Smile

True Dog1, but sooner or later it's going to have to be about athleticism; a patent airway is crucial for a dog that needs endurance. Its happened in other breeds, shortening the muzzle results in an loverly long soft palate which restricts the airway. Pugs, Bulldogs, Akitas, Berners, Saints, Mastiffs,  to name a few breeds that have taken a big hit due to the the influence of show judges. The domed skull will result in rounder eyes, probably not a surival characteristic, more so a type definer.  The shorter muzzle - jaws that are too small to accomodate complete dentition and more undershot and wry bites.  Floppy flews, lip fold pyoderma plus they are just plain ugly to look at.. It can't be about aesthetics forever.

I don't understand...some of these sz, kkl dogs that appear to be totally 'out of the standard' are getting the thumbs up, german style, to be used for 'the betterment of the breed'.

In trying to keep the breed suitable for its intended purpose, those we look to for direction, seem to be accepting of a total, about face.

These are all the top rated GSL kennel names we are beginning to see wrapped around these st bernard heads...WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING HERE????

Susie you say they are called Mace Bulk German Shepherds.  Are they part of the same registry as regular shepherds or separate.

Are they a cross or selectively bred to be like this.

They are a Chinese phenomenom, some were imported to Egypt.
Rumors say pups are sold for 6000 Dollars and more...
other rumors say they crossed Shar Peis into the gen pool - I don´t know.

No, they are not part of the SV registry, and I don´t think anybody  will be crazy enough to show them on any SV/WUSV show.

Never mind $6,000. If you look at the last page of the thread I linked to on the first page (To Excess!) you will see one of them sold for $1 million U.S. dollars!  Sad SmileBat

No, the dogs from China and Egypt are not sz registered, but Cimi certainly is and he is not fR behind them,

THAT was my point. Why are these dogs with monstrous heads being given kkl rantings?

They 'clearly' show themselves to nothave the heads the standard calls for.

Maybe this is why the slight increase is being alliwed on height, to allow a little more lead way for these dogs to get their feet in the door.

    Shameful, if you ask me

Kitkat, MY point EXACTLY!  Look at what Cimi's koer report says about his head!

....very good type and expression, strong head....

Special features: male expressive head with good type.

These dogs were making it around one of the Facebook pages, recently. I wish I could find it again, but the picture posted linked to the owners page, and he had SEVERAL pictures of dogs... dogs, bitches, and puppies.... just like this. While this picture looks photoshopped somewhat, I have a bad feeling it is not as much as we would all like it to be. Sad Smile

I don't know how anyone can see that as a "proper" GSD.
