There are some very well conformed work line dogs, show breeders refrain from using them. Outcrossing to such a dog would need few more generations to breed out unwanted "out of type traits" and reset their GSD strain. That is called laziness, if work ability and strong temperament was very important to them, they would happily take the chance and breed to a well conformed work line.

Crossing work with show is a way to bring both lines together maybe, but it is a sure way for the show breeders to reinforce temperament, drives and work ability. It takes time and needs guts and knowledge, maybe few breeders qualify for that !!!

Isn't Huerta Hof doing some work/show line crossing. I may be mistaken, but I thought they were.

I remember seeing a nice looking dark sable male at the 2012 UScA sieger show (along with Gordon) named Hyro Waji. I don't think he would out in the bite work, however.

Tgere are dogs out there like you want. It just takes some digging.

For judges, I am not sure all of them know what correct angulation is on a live GSD infront of them. I am not sure all judges know what endurance is about especially when you hear them connect endurance to angulations only. Many breeders on the other hand either do not know what good temperament is or on the other hand what good angulation of a shoulder is.

Wasn't Zastin Eqidius at one of them recently? I'll have to dig through my magazines later, but I could've sworn....

And yes, Huerta Hof has been doing the crosses lately - I've been following them on Facebook. :) Boy von Zorra was one of the studs they've used recently.

Thom Payne's Zastin Eqidius was at the last two Sieger shows winning USCA's Universal Sieger Title last year: he further participated very well at the 2013 WUSV World Universal Sieger Competition in Slovakia.

Gordon Vom Fuchsgraben was at the 2012, and 2013 Sieger shows attaining vice Universal Sieger both years among his many other accomplishments. He was also on the USA Team and competed at the 2013 WUSV Universal Sieger competition.

Both are very fine competitive working line dogs with excellent (V) conformation.

Best,

Kevin

There is a big difference between WL people being concerned with correct conformation and showing, receiving their required show rating, etc, as opposed to going to a Sieger Show, either here or in Germany. Like it or not, at that level, politics plays a huge part, and most have no interest in engaging in that. Why would they when their priority is function, and form is secondary..? I go to club and regional shows a couple of times a year, and there are a couple of WL dogs at most of them. They generally want to either get a show rating or possibly a little ring experience for young dogs, but the attitude is usually a sense of, " I'm here because I have to be." Many do not feel the need to prepare or ring train either, that is a waste of time in their eyes and not necessary for something so trivial.

With that said, there definitely ARE WL dogs out there with very correct conformation. And, there definitely are SL breeders breeding to them. I know that V Drago Vom Patriot  has been very popular lately from a breeding angle, take a look at his conformation as well. IMO, he is very correct. I will be breeding my WGSL bitch to him in the spring.  As was mentioned I believe, the fundamentals of judging will need to change if WL and SL alike are to be scrutinized and judged equally in the showrings.

We plan on showing a couple of WL puppies/young dog, and a WL/SL cross in the upcoming Sieger Show in May 2015.

We are proud of their over-all structure, and love their temperaments at this time

.

Show line & Working line cross female.  (pictured at 5 mos)  she is stronger and more filled out right now...but I didn't have a picture available.

same female one month later.

Lucian von Huerta Hof  (pictured at 9-10 mos).  ALL Working Lineage      He is now 12 mos old.

We plan on possibly showing him.

All Working Lineage Long Stock Coat male......

All Working lineage puppy.

HOPEFULLY...we will show these WL reps in the May 2015 Sieger Show, along with a sibling or two. We are proud of them as we are proud of our Show lineage dogs.

We may not win or place...(who knows)...but we sure will have fun!

Thanks for letting me share.
