it is the show crowd that perpetuate the myth of a more correct form, it gives them a point of difference when they go to sell puppies.

even the whole betauty/hunk etc thing is 100% truly subjective, the show crowd think they define beauty, they don't.

the newb need only; ask more correct to do what, show me.

if the breeder answers something on the lines;

to facilitate the dog trotting all day while herding  and using it's gait to form a moving corral to hold the sheep - RUN.

the newb can forget about lines,  titles, pretty ribbons etc and merely ask for documeneted health records back 3 generations and ask to see the dog or parents  and other  progeny doing the work the breeder is saying it is capable of.

Smiley, have you seen Nocturne's Navigator?  He is a AM/GER showline cross that is Sch3, V rated and an AKC Grand Champion, also has AKC obedience and agility titles.  He's the second one on this page.  http://helengleason.tripod.com/nocturne_males.html  I have not seen him personally but it seems he's produced some versatile puppies as well.
