I have a year old bitch who is a house dog at night. In the last week she whines @ 0300 so, I get up and let her out thinking for some odd reason she no longer holds it all night. She always has held it since puppy. She is not sick. She does not have a UTI--I checked a dipstick, no WBC's,no blood. So today i brought her in and she is hanging in the kitchen with a gate. She's whining again, so I looked and she's laying down calm but whining and just looking when she see's me. I wonder if she is bored but she has lots of stimulation and activity. She is not by the door like it's potty time. I can not think of anything. She is not in season. She seems fine otherwise. Please, any thoughts. This is starting to drive me nuts after 1 week. Thank you in advance

Does she still do it right after you give her a lot of exercise? IMO I would take her to the vet just in case if anything is wrong :)

I cant think of any physical problems, or like you said you cant find anything wrong with her. Mabey just do what they tell you to do with puppies and ingnore her for one night, see if she stops. I have no idea why she may have started it in the first place, but she knows if she crys youll come to her. If she dosent stop, try to get an apointment with the vet and they may be able to find something wrong with her. Does she cry during the day too? Like I said Im in no way experienced, so maybe someone eles might be able to help you a little more. Andrea

Maybe try giving her a good jog in the morning or evening, with brisk-paced walks inbetween. That can help calm her down. Like Andrea said, she might have learned that whining gets your attention, and will keep doing what works to get what she wants. Otherwise, I don't really know why she is whining... I'm not an expert, so this may not have been a great help, but I tried! lol Good Luck! ~Lauren
