 It seems to me that both in the US and the UK many people want only kennel club registered Dutches. I think that Bloodline is the only mark of quality. In the UK the KC does not recognise the DH. Good ! because this means the dog will (hopefully) continue to be bred for function, health and ability rather than a certain look. Just think of what they did to the British Bulldog and others including the GSD. In my experience the majority of UK GSDs are scroats. Thankfully  mine are from East European Bloodlines and are excellent.

I don't find this to be true at all in the US.  Most people in the US want a working dog.  There are a fewer number of FCI pedigreed dogs imported by people not working in LE or dog sports. There are also people breeding both the long-coats and rough-coats in the US with FCI pedigrees.  They just travel in different circles.
