@ gsdstudent, "all this experience makes you what you are today."
Mr. Anonymous, WHAT I am today, is why I didn't keep those bitches and breed them like most people would have. And WHAT I am today is why I am not letting that "trainer" sit back and think he got away with pulling shit on somebody he underestimated; WHAT I am today is why I won't waste my time trying to track down worthless magazines; WHAT I am today is why I ran the as$hole off who was hitting my one year old bitche's feet with the butt end of a riding crop, and that same bitch I trained and titled and she placed high in protection when I did her schH II.
What made you WHAT you are today? Hmmm? Probably lots of virtual life on the Internet behind a screen name keeping you anonymous, by the tone of your posts.

Fukc you very much,

Joan

wow; I thought maybe after all of that experience one could say ''expert''. Some lessons in life and dogs are taught the difficult way by trial and error. Some lessons are taught by a mentor, what to do, what not to do. There are plenty of experts in the GSD organizations. Watch out for the ''wolves in sheep clothing''. That is what your message is joanro. You put yourself out there, got burnt but keep on trying.

by joanro on 24 July 2013 - 11:07

You are not exactly the person I would consider to take any advise from. I can tell you that your revered club trainer who you advise people to to go to are the very people who "burned" me. That's why I shared that experience on the forum, to warn people not to trust their dogs with any body, especially a club trainer, even if they trained with that person for years and think they are trust worthy. And your keep trying comment proves you don't know jack. You seem to want to make all this a personal attack on me, so how about you call me on phone and settle this off the forum.

by gsdstudent on 24 July 2013 - 11:07

expert is a nice word, but ''bitter'' comes to mind. Your trials and troubles are a good check list for some one looking to get started. Your story says that you  will make mistakes. You can receive instruction from people who love the breed.

by joanro on 24 July 2013 - 11:07

No. "Bitter" is evoked by anonymous you taking my experiences, which are not unique if anyone has been involved with dogs beyond the virtual Internet, and attempting to spin them into a unique experience.
I did not need a mentor to tell me what to do with a pup I bought which did not develop UpperP3s. You trying to say you would be able to predict a hundred percent that a eight week old pup is going to have a full mouth at six or seven months? You must have some super powers if you can. Seven years training with a person should give some insight to them, but there obviously are some people with dual personalities; a public one and a secret one.

Coincidentally, gsdstudent, I got my renewal reminder this week for the club dues, and being that people like you are who I'd be supporting, you've talked me out of renewing this year. I've only been a member for eight years, so I know they won't miss my contribution. You've also convinced me to steer any puppy buyers away from schH. Edit to add: no wonder the membership is declining.

i am sorry for my input turning this thread in the wrong direction. I am sorry that I have angered Joanro. But may the message in the thread not be missed. Please if you are reading this deep into the thread go back and read the original post by Susie. It is encouraging the USA to get along, work together, and breed better dogs. If you have not found mentors in the breed , keep trying. If you are a beginner trainer, keep trying. No one expect a beginner to be an instant expert. People will help you. Trials, seminars and other clubs will welcome you as places to learn. keep your ego in check and remember people who instantly try to discourage you have the problem, not you. There is a wealth of knowledge and ability inside of the GSD organization. There are Shepherds because there are wolves. There are Shepherds because there are ''wolves in sheep clothing''. There are German Shepherds because people take the time to keep ''paying it forward'' . There are sheep because there are Shepherds

Gsdstudent, I am not angry, you just opened my eyes a bit wider to the reality of what this topic is all about.

by joanro on 24 July 2013 - 12:07

People need to know both sides of what goes on at clubs. There are some (I know of three, personally) that are run by honest people who truly want to help owners with their dogs and will treat them well, even if they are not a member. but there are a heck of a lot of them that only look at people as a money source and will milk them for as long as they can keep the persons hanging on with the dream of titling their dog.

It takes perseverance and dedication to sweep the shit aside that happens, but to not let the same people who are being told life's a twinkly and no club would screw them and their dog, is misleading and irresponsible. That's my message.

My advice to anyone wanting to join a club is to go out and watch, if they get a feeling something isn't right, and that the dogs are run through as on a production line, to go look elsewhere.

Honestly, Germany has so many issues of it's own... stop telling other countries what to do and start working on the issues WITHIN THE SV!

There is so much corruption going it ain't funny!
