If it has to be signed yearly, even more reason for it to be refused at the first step here, this year, to show the KC that they are only wasting paper and adding to their  carbon footprint - because if we dont sign it this year, why one earth would it be signed the following years, with their addendums added no doubt - this is where is would cripple the GSD world.  By having the first signature, and feeling that clubs desperately needed the CC`s to survive, they then could sit and put extra`s in - and why would it not be signed, as it was last year !   The pitfalls of this KC letter is endless for the people who can see further than the end of their nose.  Steps have been taken by forward thinking people to allow the members of BAGSD to know exactly what should be done.

Looking at the BAGSD constitution on their website rule 15 clearly states

15, The Executive Committee shall have power to take a referendum of members by a postal ballot should they deem such a procedure desirable.

well  -  didnt they deem on Sunday  ??

As I read the KC letter they are only concerned with KC Licensed Championship Show where CC's would be on offer.
Even in clause 9 they refer to other events being allowed with their permission, as they have done with the British Sieger for the past five years.  One thing that puzzles me, if voting whether or not to sign the letter is supposed to be democratic why are some people trying to impose their will on others to sign?  I bet they will all still enter the CC shows run by the clubs that do sign.

Informed decision is what its all about Jeevs.

We all have a view about it, to sign or not to sign, and I dont see that as  a problem, providing we dont either FORCE our view on each other, by way of not allowing an every member vote, or by not voting at all, and just signing without consulting members

Have another read at clause 9.   No-where does it say "except the British Seiger or the VPG clubs" - that will come later believe me, otherwise why the need to put it in the first place.  The British Seiger is "allowed" by the K.C. and for me, I have to say thats a bit "Gracious" in the light of this clause - what can be given, can be taken away, especially when one has signed to that effect.  Cant you see the Dog press headlines in two years

"K.C. refuses further British GSD Seiger Events!".  - they can trot out any reason they like, if their letter has been signed.

Mo on clause 9 - Oh so very true Mo.

Jeeves said - "Even in clause 9 they refer to other events being allowed with their permission,"  The last three words in that sentance is the crux of the problem  Jeeves, in a Country of Democracy, freedom of speech, equal rights, fair trade and fair competition we shouldnt need to ask the KC permission to run a non KC event, contrary to popular belief the KC do not rule us, they are not our masters, our Goverment or our Law Lords. And although they may have given permission for the British Sieger Event to be run for the past 5yrs that doesnt mean they will continue to give permission otherwise why should we ever need to ask in the first place? The sheer fact they included Clause 9 suggests they believe they do have the right to say NO, moreover that is possibly their intent, afterall they were asked for permission to run this years (2010) British Sieger in January 2009, to date we are still awaiting permission !!!  How can any committee be expected to organise an event of this magnitude in a matter of months? It's simply impossible, Booking the Venue, Judges, flights, Hotel reservations, organising the Helpers, Trophies, etc etc all takes time and planning. Apart from anything else, the fact we should even have to contemplate asking permission to run an Event purely for the participation and promotion of Healthy GSD's is too ludicrous for words.

Simply ask yourself this question, "Unless the KC intend to say NO, why would we need to ask permission in the first place?"  Your answere is?

I received my official notification from BAGSD EC last night about the vote and although I have checked whether it is one member one vote or one branch one vote, I can’t seem to get a straight answer – which is better than my daughter who can’t get an answer at all.

I am getting the impression that it might be decided when they know which method gives them the result they want – am I wrong?   Mo.

A Shepherd

You underestimate the old girl -  she " had it" in the first place, but likes to think the best of everyone until its being proven otherwise

And you are happy to run a branch of this club, operating under the jurisdiction of this suspected, corrupt EC?? Amazing!!

Non BAGSD members can point out the failings of the Association and can make public their feelings but change can only be brought about by the will of the members.

We haven't given up trying yet!

In answer to A Shepherd again

At this current time, I am very sad for the the Derbyshire VPG because most of the EC have let me down by non communication since the meeting - and that can only be because they dont have the direct answers that I need to make them a democracy.  Perhaps I was looked upon as a dotty nutter that would fall in line.  I will fall in line with anyone if the cards are on the table and the action is fair.

However, as Shirley rightly points out, members are the only ones that can push to make a difference, its much more comfortable from the outside I am sure, but it doesnt solve the problem of a democratic vote on the future of our GSD in the UK.

Also - there are our own members to think of - they are great, have worked hard, and putting on this trial has needed their support, guidance and education as its new to us, and they have been there for us.  The good thing is that they are equally disgusted at the lack of response we are getting.

A Shepherd   -  sign up, come to Derbyshire VPG, that way you can have a vote  (We Hope)       Mo
