No doubt, finances play a huge part. I think peeps show their support by entering, when they know they probably will not be able to attend.
The whole Regional Event system was a huge undertaking and those concerned have done a grand job imo. Yes, there are a few things that need tweaking but overall, they are well run and totally enjoyable.
Re: Hides etc... yes, I have felt the same, but these things cost money and there is a distinct lack of it around at the moment. I do agree about the separate judges / rings for L/C classes... to keep things rolling along.
Re: off lead gaiting; I'm not thrilled about it... more so because of the lack of notice (8 weeks) when it has apparently been "known" since February! However, I believe the Adult classes were introduced to accommodate everyone... to avoid exclusion? I know... it's not so tough to do (if you can run) blah, blah and everyone says it doesn't have to be perfect, most dogs / handlers will be making a hash of it etc... well. if that's correct, what's the point in having it anyway?
We have off lead gaiting in the Working classes (as usual) these dogs all have a Koerung... perfectly reasonable. Moving the goal posts (and not bothering to tell anyone till the 11th hour) is detrimental imo. I'm only one entry... no big loss, but I have counted about 10 that will not be entering for the same reason... what a pity and very unnecessary.
People need to be kept informed and involved if their interest is to be maintained; advertising and marketing is paramount. If "we" can be consulted on the title (Champion), surely we should have had the same oppo' to comment on off lead gaiting.
Anyway... good luck to all at the BAGSD Regional.

The off-lead gaiting discussion is about what has been planned for the BRITISH SIEGER, and has nothing to do with the BRG Regionals. Separate organisations.

Yes... sorry Alyson, I should have been more explicit. There should be some unity though... should there not? Should the BS not (is it now not?) be the Grand Finale of the year?
I don't know... that's perhaps part of the problem... does anyone know who runs what, where and when?
My intention is not to upset anyone, but some serious clarification and transparency is long overdue. I am not the only confused one out here!

Another thought for the low entries might be the regional events are too close together where finances are concerned ?. I know a few who can't afford to support another regional so soon. Handlers fees, travel expenses, entry fees all play a part.

I know what Bill is saying about not following Germany blindly, but surely some minimum requirements of the German system must be met to be able to remain under the umbrella of the WUSV, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Yeah Abnor, you're barking!

That was a flippant comment Abnor... about you being barking!
They do follow the WUSV rules but there are no "Adult" classes in Germany, although I have been told on fb, that other countries have something similar... who knows?
