A REVEALING EMAIL which clearly illustrates the major problems which exist and needs resolving within the WUSV/GSDL BRG - AND VERY QUICKLY INDEED

Subject: Re: Longcoats at Regional events

HI All

The League Chairman, Nikki (after the British Sieger meeting) decided it was in the best interests of the
Regional events to amend the Long coat requirements.

The GSDL template for rules and regs for an event will now have the following amendment

LONG COAT CLASS REQUIREMENT

All dogs with a long (non standard) coat of which an undercoat MUST be present.

Intermediate (12 – 24 months) – All dogs over 18 months of age will require a hip and elbow score (For the British Sieger this will be MANDATORY)  For the Regional Show this is recommended but not mandatory for this year (2011) only.

Adult (2 years and over) – All dogs over 2 years will be required to have passed a British Breed Survey (For the British Sieger this will be MANDATORY) For the Regional Show this is recommended  but not mandatory for this year (2011) only.

could you all amend your copies to bring all events in line please.

Also to cover this we need to insert into our BRG Rules and regulations in Section D Definition of Classes ...   Long Coat Adult  ... at the end of the sentence 'from 2012'

Could I ask you all to please vote on this amendment (votes to be e-mailed to Shirley) as soon as possible, once this is done, we can put out an official press release informing exhibitors.

Regarding Class one or two, this is likely to be discussed by the Surveyors and we will be informed if anything changes on this front.

Regards

Brigid

I sincerely hope the WUSV/GSDL BRG get the Regional Events back on track very quickly. They are the only one's that can correct their mistakes and tighten up their decision making process.  Our breed here within the UK needs this BRG System, it is the only way forward that offers a very solid and very important health requirements foundation, and the real prospects of providing self determination, along with meaningful and carefully considered progress towards steadily improving our breed and also our enjoyment of our breed.

I just wonder why it was 'decided' to abandon health requirements for LC's for 2011?

I can only think that it was to encourage entries into the LC classes, and ease them in 'gently' to the requirements.  IMPO if LC's 'weren't ready' to enter under full standard regulations this year then the LC classes should have been deferred and commenced in 2012, to allow them acquire the health requirements/breed survey.

I also wonder why it was decided to abandon health requirements for long coats for 2011?

The British Regional Group must realise that they are ACCOUNTABLE to all the Club members they 'collectively represent. These Club members fully deserve the fullest clarification and explanation as to why the fundamental health requirements of OUR Regional Events have been "IGNORED" for Long Coats for 2011. The British Regional Group Committee's decisions must be open to SCRUTINY and Club members deserve the FULLEST EXPLANATION. The BRG Committee must not be allowed to become a "closed group dictatorship". DEMOCRACY must rule, and that includes ACCOUNTABILITY, SCRUTINY and THE FULLEST EXPLANATIONS of all their DECISIONS to all represented GSD Club Members.

I await the FULLEST EXPLANATORY REPORT on the BRG decision to "breach of the fundamental Health Requirements of our Regional Events for Long Coats during 2011.

I fail to read anywhere in this email where it states animals over 2yrs do not need a hip score, what it says is not mandatory for the dog to be breed surveyed this year.A breed survey is the final part of the health tests bringing it al together (Hips/Elbows Heam Test) and another question was this dog haem tested clear. I know it says in the intermediate that it will be exempt this year but it does not say that for the adults.

Perhaps you may care to explain how the 2nd male in the Adult Long Coat Male Class managed to enter and be shown and receive an EX grading at the Midlands Regional Event, when this male has NOT even had his hips x-rayed, never mind scored??????????

Adult Long Coat Male

V1        MacDonald/Greer CONBHAIREAN LAUSER (Nando vom Gollerweiher x CH Conbhairean Alexis)
5.5 years, black & gold, over medium size, strong, very stretched, very good head, high wither, good top and underline, croup is slightly steep, very good hindquarter angulation, very good front angulation, pasterns should be firmer, stands straight in front, correct coming and going, very good movement.

2 (EX)    Ali PARHILEON KAISER (Lardo Vom Stieglerhof x Lauri vom Huhnegrab)
2 years, black & gold, medium size, medium strong, good proportions, high wither, slightly short croup, good hindquarter angulation, upper arm should be slightly longer, good chest proportions, stands straight in front, correct coming and going, good movement.

STILL CONFUSED? - READ http://www.gsdleague.co.uk/WUSV%20BRITISH%20GROUP/index.htm
and look up "Rules & Regulations" near the bottom "for Long Coats"

"LONG COAT ADULT – For all Long Coats over of 24 calendar months of age, with or without a Training Degree but must have either a British Survey or Koerung pass."

a
nd this is CURRENTLY on the BRG website ????????????????????????????????????

Is there to be no explanation from the group?

Could it possibly be that the rules have been interpreted as OVER 24 months needs a breed survey, but a dog up to and including 24 months doesn't? I guess whether that idea floats depends on the exact age of dog 2.

please read carefully -  clue = 2nd dog in ADULT CLASS - your lack of basic knowledge wears me down - no more explanations will be forthcoming from me, I find it tedious.

I am awaiting a response from Jim H, I understand he is also on the BRG WUSV-GSDL Committee. He appears reluctant and probably uncomfortable with the facts I have posted above.
