yeah, well my dad can beat up your dad.  I don't really care.  I've been on both sides of the leash for  a lot of dogs, i've seen good and bad everywhere.  If you think I have a thing against a dog because of it's "lines' you couldn't be more wrong.

oh, and one of my dogs has a coat, bash away, i don't really care.  She will never stand like that. I think it's sad when the "best of the best" has that look to it and I don't care what lines it comes from.

The beauty of dogs and people are in their character....or at least it should be....but I'm sure there are some twisted minds out there that think that is bashing. You know over the years I have found as many faulty issues with owners as with the dogs. I have seen many people who are emotionally crippled and use their dogs for crutches. I found many anti-social dog people and many elitest people who are dog owners. I find people will rationale anything to justify their dogs even in the face of facts....my only point....is it any wonder the breed is what it is??? Like I said the beauty of people and dogs is character.

There are no perfect dogs.  None.  Dog is always a compromise.
No reason to get bend out of shape over it. :)

IMO in  another 2 years there will be literally no showline people posting to or reading most of the threads on this board. Many have already left. I think I am one of the very few left here with an AKC CH that is 1/4 GSL's.

I think I misunderstood the suggestion that this should be a one breed board. Wasn't thinking about abolishing the other forms, was thinking that the poster meant it would be nice if we had the interests of the entire breed in mind rather than only our own lines.

Kudos to my friend Vonissk, she is what loving this breed is all about.

Blitzen, you may be one of the few, but you bring quality and experience that I am grateful to be able to learn from, too!

by joanro on 10 July 2012 - 14:07

Just a note on vonissk's comment : if a dog is not breeding quality or is sterile it should not be CH. P.s. I know you didn't say anything about sterile dogs being CH.

I don't know AKC rules (it is AKC right?) but to me it also sound weird that a sterile dog can be a champ. But then I don't do AKC so I don't have a clue.

I had a half show half working line... worked for me, I never  bred him as he had bad HD but he was an excellent dog. Whatever works for ya I suppose.

I never said a sterile dog should or should not be a CH. but all the standard says--and I believe this is ALL the standards--the dog has to have 2 testicles.

Hey Blitzen you hang in there cause hopefully we're going to have an AKC CH with AM, WL, and DDR. Yay first "mutt" to go to the Nationals. And needless to add, just like you and your mentor CH that can work............Not that I think that CH on the front end and ScH on the back end is the end all to anything, but I want to do it just to show some of you guys YOU'RE WRONG.

As Hans says there are no perfect dogs--I don't have one and neither do any of you--they are all a compromise and there is no sense getting bent out of shape. I, for one, never get bent out of shape but I have the balls to stand for what I believe in is best for the future of the breed. It's all I say everytime I get on here and noone can change my mind and try to trick me into saying anything different...................

Aw Blitzen, you've found my soft spot.

by Blitzen on 10 July 2012 - 15:07

Thanks, BeeTree. Here I am after I swore never again.

Dogs can become sterile after they have completed their AKC championships. There is no rule that disqualifies an infertile dog or bitch from being exhibited at an AKC or SV show. Most breeders I know do not show infertile dogs.

Vonissk, I think it's good to have a goal in mind and yours is a worthy one for sure. I will be sure to attend that NS!!
