Hi all, does anybody know what does "SV-Jugend- und Juniorenmeisterschaft(DJJM) " mean ?

by hodie on 30 November 2009 - 23:11

It means the youth and junior championship for Schutzhund sponsored by the SV, the German Shepherd Dog organization in Germany. In other words, young people can compete in this competition with other young people, rather than the adults.

But with mature dogs right ? Young handlers or young owners ?
Thank you for your time.

Young handlers.

And yes, the dogs must meet the same age limit requirements as if they were competing with adult humans. It is a way to get young people involved in the SV. There are about 17,000 youth members according to what the Vice President told me two years ago.

It is a show where ALL dogs in every class can ONLY be exhibited if handled by a Youth. All handlers MUST BE no older than 21yrs of age.  Some of these shows in Germany carry the largest entries of the year (outside of the Sieger show itself).
The biggest is held in June every year, around the Paderborn area, where the officiating judges are almost always that years Sieger show judges.
