Hi, does anybody know of any kennels (or even trainers) who could board my two-year-old intact male GSD for a week in the Portland, OR area?

He's friendly, but he's also naturally dominant. I can keep him in line, but I'm worried about leaving him with someone without experience with this kind of dog. He's not aggressive and he loves other dogs (although the converse isn't always true), but if he can take advantage of someone he will, and when he gets really excited he tends to try to control things with his mouth. I know he'd be all right for a couple of days with one of our friends, but we're going to be gone for a week, and if we leave him with someone who can't provide strong leadership, I'm afraid he might get out of control.

My fiancee and I are leaving in six days, and this will be the first time we've gone anywhere we couldn't take him with us. I hope it's not too late to find a place for him. We've never tried to do this before, and the time just kind of snuck up on us.

Any advice would be appreciate,
Thanks,
Alice

Alice, You might try Pat Miller in Salem. He was a helper years back and can handle any dog. It's been a while since I contacted him but here are the numbers I have:  503-399-9153 or 503- 365-9511

Thanks so much, Ryan! You're my new favorite person! I'll give him a call a little later...don't want to interrupt somebody's Sunday morning. Especially when I'm trying to get them to do something sorta last minute . Actually, if that works out it'd be perfect since we're going to be staying at Breitenbush. Fingers crossed. Eeep!

Thanks again,
Alice
