 Hi,
Does anyone have any advice on taping or gluing ears?  My boy is almost 5 months and about half the time one of his ears is down.  Somedays they are both very erect and perfect, and then other days one is up and the other is down.  It is always the same ear.  I have read that because of teething this is normal, but at the same time don't want to end up leaving it too long.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

If your baby boys ears have been up there is no need to worry, they will be ok,my boys were up and down for 8 months, now he is fine.Good Luck

I know that you just can' t help worrying but they will probably come up soon.

Here is are before and after photos of a female I did last week. She is just 6 months old her ears had been up but they had been down for the past 6 weeks so we decided it was time to help them up again. Fingers crossed they will stand up on their own very soon.

New photo taken today inserts came unstuck so removed after only 5 days this photo 24 hours post removal.

Why does everybody panic about the ears???  He's only 5 months!  He's teething, his ears will come up on their own.  If they're up one day and down the next, they will BE FINE.  Sometimes I seriously wonder how many people actually damage the cartilage playing around with ears that would stand on their own.  Let a puppy be a puppy, floppy ears are one of my favorite stages, they don't get much cuter than that, enjoy it.

Yes GSDtravels is absolutely correct and mind you if you tape them wrong you will make sure they will never be erect later and taping them wrong may hurt the skin inside the ears. Since they are erect every now and then do not tape them they will eventually stand up by themselves naturally, try providing a raw big cow bone without meat on on it so he chews on it, this should help.

dogshome9,

how did you glue the ears? Mine is eight months and ears are not standing up. I bought torbot bonding glue but not sure what material to use to support the ear.  Read some places to use  pipe insolation but I like the way yours looks. What did you use? Also the directions say brush glue on skin and the matrial you trying to stick and wait for 3 minutes and then press the two togather, does that seem right?

thanks,

I agree, its not right to play with the ears of a puppy which is in its growing stage. Said that i also understand the nerves and the anticipation. The best thing to do is leave it the way they are and they will stand by themselves. The more you think about it..more the worries for you. Let the puppy grow at its pace everything will be fine.
