8 people have now contacted me regarding their BAGSD membership. They are members but not affiliated to any particular branch, there must be many more that have not contacted me, or possibly not computer literate, not knowing they have the chance to vote for such an important matter
some have read the KC letter, some have heard of it, but not read it and are not on the internet... they have heard there is to be a vote - and are concerned as to how they are going to get a chance to take an informed decision and who is going to contact them to exercise their right as paid up members.. They are hearing third hand. That is scandalous, and also gives rise to "chinese whispers"
Seems like BAGSD have to go back to the drawing board. This is your chance E.C. of BAGSD to prove absolute clarity and fairness. A bulk letter to ALL members asking for a postal ballot - or at least to every member that isnt an active branch member,
see rule 15 of BAGSD constitution on website
15, The Executive Committee shall have power to take a referendum of members by a postal ballot should they deem such a procedure desirable.
KC are expecting their answers by 31st march, that gives a clear 6 weeks !!! What is the problem with this, and the postal ballot to be collated and counted by two members of the EC - both on opposite sides of the sign / dont sign decision. Doreen will know which members belong to a branch by getting in her membership forms with their branch written on their so, association members will be the only single members needing to be written to.

I think it better happen as too many people it seems have paid their £14 or £20 subs and are not getting the same treatment as branch active members or internet users.

To all who read. If you feel that BAGSD SHOULD
a) give their members a vote EVERY MEMBER CONTACTED even if they dont belong to a branch
b) have a firm cut off date to vote by - made known to members

I have asked the question through the proper channels, but am getting no replies... and me a branch secretary, what chance has Joe Blogs got down the road that doesnt even belong to a branch. Mo.

Hi All,
Please see the BAGSD democracy thread, John Ward has pujt on there a very clear and concise message to us. Whether we agree with the timing or not, he has nothing to do with that, he is just one member of the EC - so we have to go with it and show our votes quickly via John in time for Sunday - please email him.
