I LOST BOTH MY DOG ONCE AND ROCKY "MALE" COST ME 1200.00 SO YESTERDAY I CHPPED BOTH GDS'S .KINDA EASY AND CHEAP AS HELL. SO FOR THE ONE'S THAT HAVEN'T CHIPPING YOU DOGS ITS IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO.

MOST DOG POUNDS GIVE 7 DAYS BEFORE THEY DESTROY THE DOGS OR CATS. SO PLEASE IF YOU HAVEN'T DON'T IT.. ITS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT THEM..

Crazy if you dont have a microchip ... worth the cost.  Both my GSD's have them, as well as i.d. tags with phone numbers.  And if its a cost thing... the Humane Society/Animal Shelters commonly have Rabies/Microchip clinics for a very low cost.

I work at an Animal Hospital... I have had the pleasure of reuniting at least 15 dogs with their owners due to microchips!

My pup was microchipped before I picked her up at her breeders, one less thing for new owners to worry with and a good way to for breeders to protect thier pups too!   I would have had her done if she had not "come that way" anyway.

Good point Heather... I sent both my litters home with Registered microchips.  I think its very important that breeders do that.

Mine are tattooed and micro-chipped both.  And DNA done on all as well.  The one litter I bred was also tattooed and micro-chipped before going to new homes.

Micro Chip your dogs!!! However, also follow up periodically with the record keeper to make certain they have the right information recorded for your dog. And, if you move, change phone numbers etc., you MUST follow up or it is worthless. In cases where dogs are chipped and owners are where they were when the chip was put in, the dogs have a much higher chance of being reunited with their owner/s. It is foolish not to do it, despite what a few will say about the evils of doing so.

another thing to consider - sometimes the chip will migrate. all my dogs are chipped, but angus's has moved down to his side. i'm considering having him done again, because there's no guarantee that a vet would think to check all over, and i'd hate to lose him because of something like that.

Mine are all chipped and all puppies are chipped and tattood.

They wear multiple tags... rabies, microchip and I.D. tag for good measure at all times.

I also list myself as irrevocable contact on all puppies microchips and the registrations are prepaid. They are sent in before they go to their new homes.
