If you want to show your dog/bitch in Germany would the Sire & Dam of the Dog/Bitch need to have SchH & KKL or does this only apply if your dog is over 2 yrs. Thanks in advance

Hi Jim,

First of all it was good putting a face to the name on Sunday !   -  didnt get chance to say so.

I am of the opinion, and think I`m right, that your sire and dam doesnt HAVE to be titled, but the dog shown can only go so far if the parents arent titled.... and thats not very far.     Mo

Hi Jim

no the parents dont need to have any qualifications to show in Germany. However, the Sieger show is a slightly different matter as it is a 'breed' show and not just beauty show and if the parents or g/parents are not titled/koered you cant normally make a top placement although this is not a written rule. You certainly cant make a  VA status unless at least 2 generations behind are fully qualified and even in the younger classes this may well keep you out of the top 50 places. For example, when we showed Aldo in Germany, at the early stages of his progression to the Sieger show we were told by the judge that he could not make the top 50 in the junghund class as his grandmother had no qualifications. Therefore we were obviously delighted to make SG51 the highest place he could attain. So dont give up if that is what you want to do because as long as you know the unwritten rules, to be in the top group, even if outside the first 50  is a major achievement especially for a homebred dog.

Hi Carol thanks for that, yes it is something i would like to do providing of course i have something worth showing in Germany we have prixi klostermoor who is by arko butjenterland ex simba westervenn so i was thinking if i got her SchH & KKL then if we were to get something good enough from her then we could show him/her in Germany hence my question as i was not sure if prixi would need to have her SchH & KKL.
