In FSI magazine I find this:

AMENDMENTS IN THE STANDARD OF THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG  (APPROVAL OF THE LONG-HAIR VARIETY - WITH UNDERCOATAND AMENDMENT IN THE SHAPE OF THE TOP LINE)
...
The amendment about the top
line was accepted.

What will happend with the topline of GSD? What kind of change will occur with the standard?
Shall we have a new ideal, looks like working dog of GSD?

what changes were made towards the topline? to allow for the roach, or to call for the correct level topline?

Could someone please point to where it says LEVEL in the standard? I see the word straight but not level, maybe I have just been reading it wrong for years and years and years!!

Anyone know what the changes to the topline proposed and accepted into the standard actually are?

The standard says "straight". Regardless of the roach that was allowed to creep in, the standard did not change.

And for those who can only point to a "roach" as to their knowledge of the GSD, then please visit next years Sieger show to learn that it is being dealt with. Or at the very least, look at the videos and try and update your way of thinking.

Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was the "roach". And neither will it be eliminated in a day. But is very obvious to anyone who chooses to look at anything other than a picture on the WWW, that it is being addressed.

Topline: The withers are higher than and sloping into the level back. The back is straight, very strongly developed without sag or roach, and relatively short.

The whole structure of the body gives an impression of depth and solidity without bulkiness.

the above link doesn't say "level" but gives good representations of a correct back and a roach in both stance and in movement
