VANCOUVER, Wash. — A Clark County, Wash., Sheriff's dog was stabbed to death early Saturday as he tried to detain a suspect.

The police K-9, named Kane, was working with sheriff's deputies to find two suspects who had fled from a stolen vehicle after trying to ram a police car.

Police say the dog tried to detain one of the suspects and was stabbed.

Kane died at St. Francis Animal Hospital in Vancouver, Wash. He worked as a police dog for the past six years and was set to retire next year.

Deputies arrested 31-year-old Keegan Graves, of La Center, on suspicion of harming a police dog, auto theft and attempting to elude a police officer.

They also arrested 22-year-old Natasa Cresap, of Yacolt, on an outstanding Department of Corrections warrant.

I hate to hear these stories, beautiful dog, such a shame.  Condolences to his handler and his breeder.

Pittsburgh lost a k-9 last year, but his killer wasn't quite as lucky, he's dead too.

son of a bitch should also be stabbed to death - prison is too good for him!

If they can do this to an animal, they are certianly capable of doing the same to a person.  My sympathies to the handler.

K-9 kane you will be remembered for your loyal service to your handler and to the public it is a great sorrow that your career had to end like this but im sure justice will be served to the person who killed this wonderful dog.

God bless K9 Kane and his family, and may his killer spend the rest of his days as some guy named Bubba's bitch.

The handler should have shot the criminal in defense of his K-9.  I would have let him walk on the shooting.
