GSDNewbie, for your info, Chaos was never used for stud.  And I stopped showing him 2 years ago.  I did live in a house and he had a full yard up until Nov. of 09 when I moved to a apartment which he absolutely hated because he didn't go outside and run like he did when I had a house!  He is more happy out on the farm where he can "go out and play" when ever he chooses.  He has a 30 x 40 ft. pole barn that is warm, with a dog house inside of it so he can go in it if he chooses.  He has a radio on full time and a light on in the corner of the polebarn for lighting.  He gets visited every day by a number of people.  He is just fine the way he is.  We only got him neutered to cut down on his chances of getting cancer or having other problems!!  You apparently didn't read my full post, lol.

You didn't really expect to come here and have people congratulate you for more or less abandoning your dog; did you?

She has her own forum where people with coats, whites, blues, livers, etc. are all welcomes.  I'm sure they have given her the heads up on what she is doing.  But she always was the type to MAKE you see things her way.  Sorry I agree with everyone else that it's not right for the dog to be there on his own.  And yes he is on his own.  And I know she doesn't like me so I will get cussed out I am sure, for just having the right to post my opinion.  But I personally feel sorry for the dog.  And there are too many things that can happen just in a second..............

Shepherd woman, you should know better than to come on this board and air your problems/solutions, as every one here has their eyes in everyones else's backyards but their own.
I'm sure their dogs are much happier kenneled all day away from them while they work long hours than they are having a  huge yard to run free in with company visiting all day.
If you had rehomed him, you'd have gotten blasted by some also.

The bottom line is this, it is your dog.  You, (no one else), knows his situation and whether or not  he seems happy. He is your responsibility.
We all have different ideas of what makes a happy dog, goodness knows, I don't think being kenneled 12 -24 hours a day does, but the fact probably is, the dogs are not as nearly concerned about their lives as long as they are well fed, than the people that own them, or should I have said, the people that DON'T own them.

sorry, i gotta agree ---- this dog is being left in a very vulnerable environment.  you will be very lucky if something bad doesn't happen here.  you've been warned.

Suggestion: 6' fence.

GSDNewbie

It is as usual. The fingers in the ears singling lalalalalala, I don't hear you! They will do what they will and not consider it may be wrong to not protect him with at least a solid fence especially at night. I am very familiar with the group of misfits <not my label, but the one they give themselves by creating the pity us we are different group and we get attacked for it :( We are targets and not because we make bad desicions with our dogs but because our dogs are different, so everyone hates us kind of teen emo thing> banded together against the dog world because they have overdrive in defense of themselves blaming prejudice against their dogs origins and or physical characteristices for peoples diapproval of them as their owners in the choices they make for their pets. Forums are here so that you can get a broad spectrum of opinions and it never seems to astonish me that people will post and then get angry when everyone does not pat them on the cheek and say whatever sweetie you go right ahead....... If you want blind alligance to yourself and not what is best for your dog stay among the security blanket forum where the otheres are also sitting around with fingers in their ears arms linked so that no opinion other than the preapproved if you tell me I am right I will tell you the same gets in.

Like people that are told their dogs will over heat in a car in the sun ending in a terrible death and ignore the advice refusing to listen because they know better than other mere mortals, do not cry to people if your dog goes missing or gets killed and blame the animal that did it or the people that stole him.

At least give the dog a fence and put him up at each night. Since he is going to run the farm all day with you in the daytime, he does not need to be loose for exercise at night to.

I would have thought that smaller dogs got attacked by Cyotes, But larger dogs are on the menu as well?

Are they killing to eat or killing to cut the competition?

GSDNewbie

by GSDNewbie on 16 May 2011 - 19:05

They will not hesitate to kill a gsd. They send female lures and the rest wait for them. A five year old that has been in tact will fall for it even if nothing more than it being another canine type showing play and begging behavior to him.

I think they do this to be rid of competition or say against probable gaurds to eliminate for future hunting on the farm. They would still eat him of course. Some coyotes a couple miles up the street from me recently killed two pregnant ewes and a pet dog in one night.
