Larus was entered at the GSDCA national and at the specialty the day before, but was not shown.

Dog 1,

That is quite the list, I had counted 11 dogs that are listed online on their pedigrees or websties as to having earned a VA rating somewhere. To me I don't see that as 7 or 8 VA slots being available to new VAs, kind of like last year was, Herr Mai even made that statement as you'll recall regarding the old guys making room for the new VAs next time, but you know how it goes, everyone wants to be able to say "____ x VA, you fill in the number LOL!! We can add to your list my male Zamp who was also V59 in Germany in 2009, is 5 times SchH3, IPO3 and was Youth Universal Sieger of Germany, but being able to fly out a progeny group from the west coast is not the easiest thing, especially with newcomers.  It would have been much easier for us to gather a group had the sieger show been on the west coast, but newcomers are not as willing to fork out the money to fly across the country as those that are already into it unfortunately. Many willing bodies, just not as many willing wallets LOLOL!!

I like both those puppies you posted, very nice, I can't wait to see all the sables that you are bringing :) It's very cool you have that large of a group, question for you has there been a sable VA in the US? It's been a long day and my dog record brain has already fallen asleep after the dog show today LOL. Good luck and hopefully we can meet at the show, I'll be the one drooling over the sables hahahaha!!

good luck to all you guys and gals.

from the Waiko progeny I have seen, I expect him to make a very good showing in this area. Waiko could be the poster child in the difference that can be made in performance with serious training.

I haven't seen personaly any of the other males. I do expect that Zamp and Larus to do well.

Champion, one of the high VA dogs from Germany is owned by an American but will not be coming over until after 2012 Sieger. This might be who you are hearing of.

best to all,

Rik

We are excited to be going again this year, in-spite of not being able to present Cuervo or a progeny group of his this year.
We will be attending with only a few puppies,  *wonderful* Ivan, and a young adult male that we imported for a friend.  *A Zamp son, who is a very nice, new stud for this area*.
The one son of Cuervo's (the oldest) will actually be shown in the 12-18mo class....we have high hopes for Uzo's future.  *Please wish us luck!*

It comes down for us, having the overwhelming task & inspiration of breeding another excellent dog, and busting our butts against the "odds" to push through the masses, and hopefully get to the top.

Carlos & I wish ALL the participants...the very best of luck, good health for both dogs & humans...and all the enjoyment a venue can bring!
See you there!

You're a class act, Robin. Good luck at NASS!!!

It helps if the dog is sired, bred, born, tiltled in Germany, has been shown at a German SS, and has a German handler. Having a progeny group--especially of titled progeny--gives the dog greater credibility. It cannot hurt if the dog's owner is on schmoozing terms with the judge, is a broker, and has bought dogs from the judge, or if the VA contender is sired by a stud bred/owned by the judge,

Every now and then, a dog can win on its own merits--such as Robin and Carlos' late Cuervo.

I will never own a VA dog and am satisfied with a mid-pack V-rated dog who does an excellent performance test.

Update:

Home stretch is here. Yesterday was ring training with the group at Haus Juris. Time to get the little guys out and see how they do in a larger setting. Megan and Company were very accommodating and very helpful. Competitors in the ring, but it great to be able to work together and prepare.

Two Waiko 3 to 6 entries were there to practice. Both new to the show scene. Female is a go getter, no problem getting her to go in the ring. Just a little more practice and she'll be ready. Male is not quit as enthusiastic. It's Jeanie's puppy. If you don't know Jeanie, She's been support and partner that stays at home while I'm away for years. She wanted a puppy so she has one. It reminded her of our first male Karbon, and more recently because of his stubbornness and lack of emotion,,,, me,,,,, so she says,,,,I'm not sure I agree. Rest assured any work ethic this puppy was ever born with will be pampered and spoiled out of it. He even has a bling, bling, leather collar, handmade with his name in rhinestones. Something tells me he may go to the ring in this collar, we'll have to wait and see. She's been involved for years but this is her first time training preparing, grooming for a show. It's her first time double handling in the ring too. Megan had her running all over the place double handling.

She's really into it. I get an update each day on how he looks, what he's doing, how he gets to sleep in the bed, etc. The little guy smells like a pimp and his coat has some horse goo on it. I'm sure she has a plan.

I have more entries in the 3 to 6 class than any other class. More new puppy people with their new puppies in this class. The WDA did a great thing by leaving the class a 3 to 6 class.

Waiko is off for fine tuning. This is a strong class and we need to show every working aspect of the dog as best we can. We expect his performance to be solid. Our normal helper was selected for the front half of the males again this year and if you know him, he works no dogs entered in the show prior to the show. So he's off to boot camp.

Paperwork, tattoo certifications are coming together. It was a challenge to get all the memberships in, all the AKC paperwork done, all the questions asked and answered, all entries done for the dogs that are entered. Cindy was a great help along the way through the process.

Let's hope the ones entered are still the ones we would like to have entered when the show begins.

Good luck Randy!
I hope your dogs are in better "coat" than mine are.....*I think my dogs purposely decided to blow their coats over the past 4 weeks....so they can see me stress out!*
Wonderful.....bald dogs at THE MAJOR conformation venue of the year....*priceless*.cheeky
