Sounds like there was a wee bit of embellishment from both parties.  The way it looks from an outsider...

Party A paid a non-refundable puppy deposit, changed mind and asked breeder for non-refundable deposit back.
Party B kept the Non-refundable deposit for puppy.
Party A got a wee bit cranky with Party B and jacked her deposit $$$ to make self look like a total victim.

Both Parties went on WWW and made themselves look bad

End of story.

Another PDB soap opera, with the usual twist, the usual revision of initial statements and the usual loss of potential business by someone who  got his back up about his character being "deformed."   "Someone"  demonstrated that it was "deformed" and shunned an opportunity to perform reconstructive surgery on it.    Now, a Google will come up with this thread, and the repeated violation of the TOS, among other things highlighting the "deformity."

As soon as I saw Lane S respond in the first message, he lost all credibility with me. Very unprofessional IMO. I also agree that a short video was not too much to ask. I would have gladly provided a video if I were in his shoes. Makes me wonder why a video was such a big deal? Just thinking out loud.

Smiley - in the future, I would put in writing and have the breeder agree to taking video of the pups. If they agree, then place a deposit. If you are worried overly much about it, then don't even place the deposit until you have seen video first.

IMO, a breeder should have NO issue providing a short video showing drive and temperament. If they won't, I'd wonder what they're hiding? Obviously, lack of owning video equipment is somewhat understandable (but still no excuse IMO). That's another reason why you ask about videos before placing a deposit. Then, you'd know up front if they cannot provide a video and could walk away without putting money on the table.

I try not to get involved in these threads because they are he say she say. People respond to one side and get blind sided but I will say that Lane doesnt have to return the DEPOSIT. But on the other hand it may assist Lane in being seen as more reputable and not just in it for the money. That is your right as nothing in life is free. But some on here think you as seeing dollar signs not puppies you love and want to ensure they are on the path to a great forever home. No mentioning of is this the right dog for this family. Only seems to be pay me but again nothing wrong with this. But in two years from today when someone is looking for a pup and come across you website Lane they tend to come her to see if anyone else has been "burned" before. That is a matter of opinion but this thread is not on tracking to helping that image down the line. You are a business man and should look at in that manner. Maybe not refunding the money as I done think it is warranted. But some of you comments may go along way in keeping your pups on your property. Good luck to all involved.

Laneshepherds wrote; "So what you guys are saying is I should let her bully me in to doing what she wants after we had made a deal. It's not like I didn't have a video posted on the website of the pups but she wanted me to do one just for her." ROTFLMAO You have videos of other people's dog on your site. Sheep herding, doing bitework at the BSP, agility trials, etc. None of those dogs are yours. You certainly did nor breed them, could never own or train them. Why would someone look at a video of a dog on your website and think it was one of yours. Unless, the dog was laying on a couch doing nothing I might believe it. Your website is entirely misleading and contradictory. Please don't quote "Capt Max" (not the other max" when you obviously no nothing of what a GSD should be. To quote the standard and then breed completely against it should be enough to scare off any potential buyers.
