No agenda, go to defra, it explains clearly. Changes made 1 Jan 2012 are no rabies titer required and no tick treatment mandatory before entry. Forget the facts statement, could just be my observation -- of facts. Also, for the last several years dogs from the US, Italy, France, and other countries that had restrictions coming into UK have been allowed to compete at Crufts and other shows because of the lifted quarantine. Still must follow outlined rules to avoid quarantine. But the rules are simple.Rabies "vaccination" Six months BEFORE entry is not quarantine, I'm just say'n.

Deutscher49,
You are paying way way too much in Germany for a pup..... perhaps some czech breeders will be sending you info on pups now.

Well, Slamdunc, I see prices in the US (for showline GSDs) that are even higher (3000+), for pups from imported parents.  Remember these are PUPS, which are a crap-shoot at best.

and I wouldn't buy them either:-)

2500 for a pup from Germany....I paid 1100 for a 5 month old female from excellent breeders!

aaykay,
Perhaps you should read what I have posted earlier on this thread.  I am fully aware of what SL dogs cost in the US and Germany.  I am also aware of what top working line pups should go for, or at least what I would I would pay.  As I stated earlier, I would pay about $1,500 USD for a, exceptionally well bred puppy in the US.  I personally would travel to select the pup.  For $3, 000 I can travel to Germany and hand pick an excellent dog, from reputable breeders.  That includes airfare for me and the dog  and the price of the pup.  I certainly understand that "pups are a crap shoot,"  I have made that statement several times on here over the years.

Those of us that have some experience know what pups cost around the world.  Judron's posts are an excellent example.  Those that are new to dogs may fall under the spell of an importer to "assist" them in bringing a dog in.  If that assistance is required and gives someone peace of mind then by all means pay for their service.  People should never confuse the cost of the service with the value or worth of the dog.  The dog costs X and the service costs Y, the total cost is Z.  If you need to enlist the service of a broker then by all means do so.  Do not ever think that using a broker guarantees you a better dog, a better guaranty or warranty because that is simply not always the case.  As I have said many times "pups are a crap shoot" regardless of how they are imported or sold.  You would hope coming from an agent or importer the pup would be screened for obvious health defects like massive over bites and not sold to an unsuspecting buyer.

I would feel comfortable dealing directly with Eurosport, not through their "agents" and a select few breeders or importers.  The list is very short.

Eurosport is honest and fair, I'll give them that, but their "agents" are more of a crapshoot than their dogs.

Eurosport, which I used to import my dog, can be worked with directly in English (US/States) or in Slovakia. They are very responsive. U don't have to use their "agents" - which I think you mean people advertising for them in return for commission?
