GSDPACK

Of course you are not going to stop, selfish people will tweak, adjust, bend and screw up anything to fit their own needs rather than learn how to actually do things right.  JonRon, you as many others will justify any screw up to make it fit to your own excuses. My grandfather was a k-9 handler in WW2, my father was a border patroll k-9 handler. We had Family dogs from the same kennels. Just because you are not capable of training or recognizing the proper qualities in an individual dog, and have to water it down with lazyness, doesn;t mean that is the right thing to do..but again, bend it tweak it and adjust it... who gives a shit.

I certainly will enjoy the dogs I find sound, versatile, healthy and capable of doing SAR, Sport, PD and even YES SUNSILVER... an autistic child companion... without screwing the breed up by my own selfish reasons..or excuses. I know there is plenty of us who will keep trucking because the next generation of these fantastic dogs you call GSD will start showing thing that many even pet owners dont like.. since putting pedigreeds and two fluffy cute dogs together simply is not enough.

Sunsilver..is you knew how to pick the right candidate for the right job you would not have to use labradors. Just pick the right dog, line and temperament.. but then you would have to know some more about certain lines by WORKING THEM... point made.. gotta go "sleeve biting"

Funny thing is the local service dog organization is patiently awaiting my next litter in hopes there will be a puppy they can use for service work... hmm... two titled dogs will be the parents, one even went to Nationals.. wow maybe this particular Organization needs to consuld Sunsilver to get a labrador. I placed a titled female with an 80 year old lady who LOVES the crap out of the female. I wonder what exactly does that mean, maybe JonRon and Sunsilver can educate me about the temperaments of titled dogs!

Good posts JonRob!

My rescue GSD has made a difference in the lives of hundreds of people with her weekly visits to nursing homes over the past 3 years (she is no longer doing it due to being stricken with DM).  She has made a difference in this world we live in.

JonRob is a writer, that's all. He tells a good story, LOL I liked this one probably the best:

The rancher whose GSD rounds up his sheep and chased off the bull that tried to kill him .....

Lot's of drama in that one, LMAO

Sunsilver

Both Star and her brother are service dogs, so someone must know something about picking the right dog for the job!

But, of course, Keith would call her a 'mutt' because her mom is an ASL, therefore not a 'real' GSD.

And I have no desire to have a labrador as a service dog...EVER. The breed just does not appeal to me in any way. The goldens are prettier, but I'm not a huge fan of their temperment.

OK, I got it now. A real GSD is one that totally lacks any judgment. Thanks Keith.

And a real GSD could never do what a stray mutt on the street could do:

Thanks beetree. (BTW I think the ***hole screwing with the bull deserved to get gored.)

And it's totally selfish to think anyone should be allowed to have a GSD that isn't the type that a tiny group of sports dog people like. Thanks GSDPACK.

I'm done posting for a while cause this stuff is just too weird. Back to the real world with my GSD who wants to do some training and playing. Just took a close look at him. Yep. He's real alright.

Happy bashing.

Hundreds, maybe thousands of mixed breed dogs work as therapy dogs; that doesn't make them a better GSD any more than it does any other breed.  Why is this so difficult to grasp for you people?  It's great that you all love your dogs and it's even better starrchar that yours is a rescue.  Mike could have, like you did, easily found a rescue dog himself that would have been a beautiful, wonderful ambassador for this breed, is beautiful and has all of the qualities he's looking for but he chose instead to perpetuate the type of breeding that results in so many dogs being in rescues and euthanized in the first place.  To someone like me who has spent so much of my time, energy, money and emotional capital in saving all of these dogs, that's just fucked up.  I'm sorry for my "french" but I just don't know how else to put it.

JonRob, just as long as you aren't going away with your tail between your legs! You come back now, when you are good and ready.

I used to think about it all, pretty much in your vein. There are some subtleties yet to learn if you do hang around longer. I hope you do. I don't know why. It is just a feeling, LOL

Would you or do you have plans to breed her?  Why or why not?  This isn't about whether or not you have a nice dog; it's about people carelessly breeding dogs for profit.

Ehm.. I do IPO to learn thing or two about my dogs.. not to be a jerk but i did SAR work with a titled dog.. he was SVV2... still had the temperament to do urban desaster search and rescue work. He must have been a freak of a nature huh? LOL
