did Brenda kill the snake?

The snake was under a wooden ramp we made for the puppies to climb up on.  This was supposed the puppies first time being out for a few minutes since it was a very nice day.  As soon as my husband and my son carried the puppies out and set them on the ground next to me they started investigating and walked under the ramp.  Then I saw Brenda putting her head under there and she jumped and shook her head.  I thought she bit a frog again like she usually does.  She did it again so I stuck my head under there and needless to say I saw the copperhead.  I immediately grabbed all the pups, screamed at my husband and son (poor guys) and yelled at Brenda.  Once everyone was out of the way I killed it with my pooper scooper scraper (only thing that was close to me).  I immediately saw swelling in Brendas face and noticed 3 puppies salivating.  Called my vet and loaded up all pups and Brenda.  The snake was pretty much cornered and acted in defense.  It is just heartbreaking.

Sad Smile what a terrifying ordeal.  why can't all snakes just be harmless garters and cornsnakes?
It was a good thing you were right there when it happened, or else it would've probably been even worse.

So sorry, Birgit. How awful.

Can/did they give antidotes to dogs/pups?

Sorry to hear this,
I had a similar experience not that long ago, a lot depends on how much venom was injected.
My pup survived but had a lot of pain and the swelling from just a minor bite.
If not for the pup it would have been my bare foot that night.

Dogs have more tolerance than humans so if they are still alive my guess is they will pull through.
I hope so at any rate.

Sorry you are going through this.  I will pray for you and your female and pups. And the Great Restorer will bless you and somehow makes things whole. He is our great comforter in times of loss, and He does restore.  Those who have faith will be restored 7 times over.
