Bhall, that is so sad. I'll be thinking of you and your poor pups today :(
Sulfur - can't hurt to try. You might also want to look into a snake fence if you think there might be more snakes, even if just for the puppy area:

http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/nreos/wild/wildlife/wdc/snakes.html
Look down the page at "Nonlethal measures". It has a description of how to make a snake fence.

The sulfer idea may not be a bad idea for all in the US; especially if you are in the country.  It has been a major drought year across the board, so food has been scarce for the snakes.  With winter coming, they may start looking to come closer to our homes for their homes.

Broken Heart Birgit Wilted Rose

fawndallas, thats very interesting info about snakes, I did not know that about sulfur and king snakes.
I'm very glad that the state I live in has a very small population of venomous snakes, and most of them are in the southern part of this state.  If I ever found a venomous snake on my property then it's a dead snake, I'm not taking chances with my pets.
But garter snakes I am fond of, we have them all over the place around here and I see them all the time.

Thanks everyone.  My little female " Olira"  Is still hanging on.  I wont leave her side.  I got her to take some water from the syringe.  She is in a lot of pain so I can't even touch her.  Just gave her SQ fluids.  Here is a picture of her I took 6 days ago.  Please keep her in your prayers.  Mom fully recovered.

So sorry Bhall for your ordeal...yes snakes can be good, I used to keep them as pets, but my new husband absolutely HATES them. We only have poisonous Rattlers around here, the Bull snakes non-poisonous eats the rattlers..some grass and garter snakes also..
Praying for you little girl, so sorry for your loss of the  other puppies...my prayers are with all of you.

What a  cruel thing to happen to you and these dear little puppies. I can't imagine how you are feeling . I have to tell you that I will kill any and all poisonous snakes I can; I don't care how much benefit they offer.

RIP sweeties.

Thank you for sharing their pictures.  Beautiful pups.  Such a shame to lose them, especially in this way.  Absolutely breaks my heart.  Can't even imagine what you were feeling while posting them.  Good to hear Brenda has recovered.

One really dry year every one of our farm mutts were bitten in the face by rattlesnakes.  They all survived on their own as my parents could not afford to take them to the vet.  Their poor faces were so swollen.  They were all adult dogs of various lineage and that probably gave them an advantage over succumbing to the venom.

OOOOOH so very sorry; hope all others are OK.  Best of  luck  Nan
