Is it safe to worm a bitch in whelp with panacur.  I never worm a pregnant bitch. I make sure she is parasite free BEFORE being bred so there is no need to take special measures for worming while pregnant.  Opinions please.

Panacur is pretty safe; should be fine.

It's one of the wormers recommended for pregnant bitches, and I've used it a number of times w.o. issue.

Fenbendazole [the generic for Panacur]--in a form that is labeled specifically for use in dogs, and in exactly correct dosage for the dog, is safe enough that it's specifically recommended for use in pregnant bitches to prevent her from passing roundworms that may be encysted in her muscle tissue to her whelps.  This would not necessarily extrapolate out to mean that using an equine paste formulation of fenbendazole is just as safe, however, because of the difficulty in ensuring the dosing is exact.
