Eddy can't you just switch your favorite breed to the Malinois? That would be a lot easier for everyone. Those dog folks would love a good cheerleader, I'm thinking.

C'mon, Blitzen.  He is obviously a shepherd person and knows what he needs.

Surely you/we can empathize with his frustration and maybe help him out.

Eddy?

ok so you have all just basically admitted that the GSD is in decline.............one i should leave the GSD for the malinois and the other it seems i have to go to the four corners of the planet before i can find the great working classic GSD .............

how about that???Thumbs Down

never shall people like me leave the GSD to the hands of.............

eddy's a quick study, yesterday he was asking what color was sable, today he's directing the breed. couldn't be prouder of the boy if I raised him myself.

Perhaps we should all look at it as trying to educate this person if that is what this person needs, instead of saying for them to go find another breed or he probably owns a goldfish or hamster. I do not know who he is, but they sure do seem to have a passion for the working GSD.  Perhaps we should try to educate that person by showing him that some show dogs can also work and vise-versa.  Lets not be so narrowed minded as to so quickly call them a troll. Perhaps it is a very legitimate question and concern for this person. Belittling them is not the answer either to better the breed. LETS EDUCATE!

yes that was a nice sable too.......with a tough of silver it seems............kinda like the littlest hobo............

well since i been labeled a troll might as well live up to that label.............a troll on a roll.............

one thing is for sure............if it was up to me you would all be fired..............GSD 's RULE!!

People tried for weeks now...
Day after day the same questions...
The answers will be the same - he doesn´t understand - sorry

For Eddy:
Get a dog, start training, listen to people, and learn.

dear eddy,

Please tell us who has a gun to your head and is forcing you to buy, breed, own or live with a show line GSD, so we can get you some help in putting a stop to that--as no one should be forced to have a dog they dislike.

If that isn't the situation, then you are free to buy, breed, own and otherwise support the 'working' line GSDs-- which, BTW, should more correctly be called 'sport line' GSDs, since the majority of them do precious little work themselves. There is a vast difference between a dog that is REALLY a working dog--for example, Lisa Clark's zu Truen Händen GSDs, which in addition to participating in the sport of Schutzhund, also work for her as cattle dogs on her farm--and dogs that train an hour or so every day, and go to sporting competitions, but spend the rest of their time either languishing in a kennel run without any contact with their handler, or in the same way every other dog does by hanging around in the house, going for car rides or walks with their owner and just generally being a welcome companion and family member. It doesn't matter whether the dog is from sport lines or show lines, when it comes to service dogs and guide dogs, either--GSDs from the entire spectrum of breeding programs and backgrounds have proven to be well-suited for the tasks, and there is no denying that the jobs they are doing is actual WORK...24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

There are poorly built sport line GSDs with weak temperaments just as there are poorly built show line GSDs with weak temperaments. Contrary to what some might claim, not all show line dogs are 'banana-backed', bred purely for their appearance, and lacking in courage, either. If you actually paid attention and had learned anything about the breed, you'd know that.

Hutchins,
Eddy and I go way back. Don't we Eddy, Namaste....
ooommmm.  Teeth Smile

Eddy, you might be interested to know, not too far back in that dog's pedigree.... I found SL's. And FYI, participation on these boards is strictly all volunteer work, so really, you being the new guy, well, you pretty much get the latrine jobs, until we find something better for you that opens up. Don't worry, it always does, and it never takes as long as they say at first. Trust me on this.
Thumbs Up
