I got a dog back once that had scabies.......she smelled so horrible and had red spots under what hair she had left.
vet gave injection of ivermec and 21 days later a repeat injection.......
.vet and i talked for about a half hour with her in view, just to make sure there wasn't a bad reaction..........
he also prescribed an antibiotic for the skin infections and antifungal lotion for the yeast infection....
she stopped itching after about 18 hours.
within a week the spots were gone and so was the horrible smell.

Thanks everyone, for all your advice, I have used Revolution but am concerned about the chemical side of this product and the continual use required , but I have located the product Neem Oil and have treated all my dogs.   This treatment is also used and is successful on cattle and other livestock.  I will keep you informed on the outcome, I have treated all sleeping area and beds.
Neem oil is a completely natural treatment and I have seen other breeders results from using this product.

I will post some pictures of before and after shots on dogs that have been treated shortly.

a regular dose of revolution isn't strong enough to kill the scabies.

Odds are great that, if your dog has scabies, you and anyone alse who comes into contact with that dog is going to get bitten and also scratch like crazy especially where the clothing fits tightly.  If that's not happening, I'd be questioning if the dog actually has scabies. Lots of other things can cause a dog to scratch but not with the intensity of scabies. These are GSD's , very prone to inhalation and food allergies that will also cause scratching.

Generally the damage caused by scabies is concentrated on the areas of the dog with the thinnest covering of hair - the edges of the ears and the legs are especially vulnerable. The ears edges will scab over and eventually they will become hairless. You will be able l see "tracks" and hair loss on the legs where the scabies have burrowed under the skin. Skin scrapings don't always show scabies because they don't live on the skin surface like demodex, they burrow into the skin.

Good luck killing all the mites with oils or any natural products. It didn't work for me, but maybe it will for you. You should retreat again in a few weeks in case any eggs were left behind to hatch out a new crop of critters that will put you back to square one in short order.

Thanks Blitzen, I will repeat treatment, I had a german shepherd infested with sarcoptic mange, and a million to one shot, my vet detected the disgusting parasite under a microscope, which is very rare, I put all my dogs on revolution, unfortunately the one that was infected died to to other complications (he was 11 years old and had leukemia), none of my other dogs got the infection, but I had to treat them all fortnightly for 8 weeks, and then per month.     I am just concerned about the toxic cocktail given to my dogs, I hope Neem Oil works.  We have cattle and sheep and they are treated for ticks etc. with recommended cattle treatment, so I will monitor my dogs over the next few months to see how effective Neem Oil is.  Thanks again everyone for all your advice "invermectin" is a terrible chemically based product so I have heard.

There is always lime sulfur if the neem oil fails. It's safe to spray on plants and shrubs, is used to control and elminate mildew.

Went to the vets last week to get Sentinel and my vet told me about a new flea collar called SERESTO it is 60.00 but lasts 5 to 8 months.  Why am I posting this on this thread?  Well, this collar does work for treating sarcoptic mange along with fleas ticks.  I know it is expensive but they have a 20.00 rebate on it right now.  You might want to ask your vet about this I know you wanted something natural.  I hope this helps.

I don't like flea collars if there are multiple dogs in the household unless they can be observed 24/7. Dogs have died from chewing and eating flea collars from the necks of other dogs.
