My dogs do commands in 3 languages--Chickasaw, English and German and they are spoken to all the time in the first 2 and yes they know the difference between the 2. And they also have a huge vocabulary --in both languages. I don't think it is rare--it is everyday with these guys--even when I bring one of Bec's dogs over, they seem to pick the language up very fast. Like by the next day, they may know a food or the word for let's go. It's all a part of self thinking. IMHO.

Eddy here you go, the perfect all around American dog, IMO. Not only does he have a beautiful gait, look at his titles--he can jump--he can track, he's a great looking dog, he can gait and also do OB. And he['s definately a dog I have on my mind to breed to. http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=722850-anneisles-promise-keeper

Seems as though we have move Social Dividers then in Washington D.C...
I think the thing that "us" breeders should work to do is to have a more Informed Buyer...It seems as though when I have people come over looking at a puppy or dog that I seem to spend a lot of time explaining what the differences are between Showline and Working lines...Along with what's correct and what's not...I personally never try to sell a dog...I try to Inform the perspective buyer what's out there and what's right...I let the dogs sell or not sell themselves...

Some ASL breeders do strive for that type dog and train and title in performance events. They just don't talk about it here or put videos on the net. Had Vonissk not told you about this dog, you would never have known anything about him. ASL breeders don't advertise on the PDB and neither do a lot of German SL and WL breeders. It takes research and thinking out of the box to find the best GSD's. In other words, it takes work and the refusal to adopt the incorrect assumption that ALL ALS/GWL/GSL/Czech dogs are bums. I'd venture to guess that some who condemn specific dogs, breeders, lines, whatever, have never even seen the dogs they trash. They just believe what they hear from the negative side of the breed.
The good dogs are out there, one just has to look for them.

--->but isnt a GSD more then just a gait??
without the proper form, the dog cannot function, so yes, structure is very important! if the dog cannot gait properly, how can it work properly? The dog should have a ground covering gait,to be efficient.

Kyoto, LOL, I personally preferred spiderman but he wouldnt have any part of it, so superdog, he is...
The bottom line here, on this topic is that there is no such thing as a perfect dog. Anyone who thinks otherwise, IMHO, is a fool. There are good and bad in both american bred and german bred dogs. Neither one has the lock up on perfection. We can argue about structurre and drive and working ability until the cows come home, but even if there was such a thing as the perfect specimen, without good health one would have NOTHING! Zip! Nada! ZERO! Sharing health info is still rare and IIMHO, thats the most imprtant thing because without good health, the dog can do NOTHING :(

Gorgeous dog! I could tell he was a Dallas son/grandson the minute I saw the picture! (Yes, I'm a fan of Dallas. I own a Dallas grand-daugter.)
(And for Eddy's info, 'Dallas' is the call name for Kismet's Sight for Sore Eyes, one of the most popular and best American line shepherds of the last 25 years.)
