Tell your dad if he gets the idea past Glad & Gregarious Granny, he can name it anything he wants. Wink Smile

The blue boys are fun- really fun. I think they're going to be very nice looking, too, structurally. One of them jumps out at me a little more than the other, but not by much. They're truly like twins. They're sweet but feisty. Seem to have compact builds, more like Aria- solid as rocks, heavy, but smaller than a few other pups. Playful and friendly, not instigators but don't take any crap. One is vocal when not happy- he will get mad, run in a circle around whoever he's mad at, the sit and do a growly-bark at them. When THAT doesn't work, he will tug ears. Then he will go to sleep, ear still in his mouth, troubles forgotten.

Tails wag hard when picked up- I did handle both of them a lot, though, because they were among the 2 who had the swollen jaws, so they got a tiny bit extra hands-on early on, though not by much. One, my favorite, quietly stares at me until I look at him then races to the edge of the box. When loose in the house, they're pretty focused and for their age, I'm impressed with their confidence, as they're only out one at a time, so no "back-up" from siblings. (I cannot watch more than one loose puppy and James. )

Good things to tell Gran:
Puppies are almost always practically housebroken when they leave here; good mothers mean clean puppies, and clean puppies don't potty where they eat and sleep!
They already go in one corner of the box and will actually whine and pace if their potty pad isn't in that corner (they all wake up when I change it and MUST go pee right at that moment)
Having a good older dog as an influence, they will likely turn out very similar to Qira as far as house manners and wonderful temperament (Caleb raised Qira, after all...)
You're possibly losing your mind, and the only thing that will halt the process is a puppy. She doesn't want a crazy person living with her, does she?
Tell her your dad is going to start calling HER Nookie if she says no to this puppy.
Just bring him home and when she asks, say she's nuts. There is no such thing as a Blue German Shepherd, so she's clearly hallucinating. By the time she realizes you're screwing with her, she'll love him.

Quite honestly, any of the 3 boys in the last pics would work well. Sable is obviously better if you want a breed survey in the future, but besides that, any of them would be good. Sable male is a DOLL!!! He climbed out of the box last night. I heard a soft "thump" and was busy; I didn't turn around because that usually means someone just flipped someone on their backs, but a few seconds later I had a tiny fuzzball (who was soooo proud of himself) at my feet. He doesn't have the drive his sable sister has yet (um, she's already dangerous with hand-feeding and prances around tail straight up, stepping on anyone who gets in her way) but more often than not, unless a male is going to be way over the top, drive-wise, the girls show more early on, so that isn't a very good indicator. Brix was the exception to that rule...What Smile...and many others, LOL. God love him!

I will say one "Mom-like" thing to you- are you sure that you'd want a pup from the "dreaded cross" when space is so precious, ie, you're not going to end up with 3 or 4 dogs living there? If you want to go far in IPO, maybe a pure working line (though Aria ought to have enough drive for all of them and Filou is no slouch!) from a competition standpoint and also a training standpoint, because many are so biased against them, the pup may not get a fair shake even if he's a nice pup? I was told "black dogs can't work" when I was younger and showed up w/Caleb, all excited to work him. I knew I had a nice dog. The attitude of the trainers, unfortunately, will often dictate how far you go. Now, if you want versatility and you want to dabble in herding, IPO, and whatever else, then one of these boys may just be your man. Lucky for you, I take payments from proven, wonderful homes who send lots of pictures of very loved dogs.

So, IF (and that's a very BIG IF) you can get Gran on board, weigh your options wisely and be sure you get exactly the pup you want when the time comes for you to take on another puppy.

Enock Thompson, Boardwalk Empire, call name Nuckie. He has a brother Eli. Best series ever....

Dawulf, the dog that Jen posted for me in another thread, V Funny v AltenbergerLand Sch3, IPO3, UD etc is Ando's half sister sired by Cary. She had many titles all HOT by her original owner and produced many titled dogs as well.  You know the working side of the pedigree much better than I do.

Green, green, green....Envy sucks! Those are some nice pups. I can't wait to see them grow up.
it would be wonderful to see someone title one of the blue ones.

They're so cute! Heart And sound like they act equally adorable!

I would take the versatility over a national competitor any day. The IPO club I am with is very "open", and I believe they would be supportive if I were to bring out a "wrong color" pup (and there is a SL in the club too, a coatie), so I don't think that would be an issue. They are all very nice, at least to my face, lol. And between you and me, some of those "national level" dogs that I see, are not dogs I would want to live with! And herding is fun. I wish our trainer lived closer (2 hr drive one way) so we could go more often - can't wait 'til it gets nice again so we can. And it is funny, because I only planned on ever going to see if she had instinct and COULD do it, and that was that, but she has SO much fun, and the trainer LOVES her, so now I almost feel bad NOT going. He is a border collie person anyway, so I'm certain he wouldn't care that the new GSD was a "dreaded cross" or the "wrong color" as long as it could do the work. He had never seen an all-black one before Qira, if I remember correctly, so. I also like a dog who can come with me on the route and pretend they are a demon to the bad guys, but be sweet with our friends... and Qira has fit that bill perfectly - there is a reason that my boss has dubbed her "Head of Security"! Teeth Smile Every time we see him, he comes over to the car and says "Where's my security detail?" and Q pokes her head out and gives him kisses. LOL

I haven't even brought it up to Gma, 'cause I know it'd just be a blow out and she has actually been fairly decent since her surgery last year, so I don't want to risk it, LOL! I'm just hoping to win the lottery in the next week or two. I love your good things to tell her though LMAO!!!! That is great!

I guess I can keep dreaming at this point... too bad YOU don't live closer, Jen, I could at least play with them and live the dream for an hour or two, LMAO. I tell all the breeders I meet that I will socialize their puppies for free... and I've got an 8 y/o half sister who offers her services as well. ;)

Blitzen - yes, that's it! He loves that show.

Oh how I wish I was healthy & wealthy! They are so beautiful, Jen...I wish I could just hug every one... They are lovely substantial little tanks! I don't care what color they are, they're gorgeous! Your video made me smile for the first time since they stuck that drain in my gut! I love them...with the care & research you put into your breedings these pups will be super dogs, anyone would be lucky to have one! Congratulations! jackie harris

Thanks, Jackie! They're getting to be so much fun!

I took this the other day for the lady who is thinking of buying this pup if she turns out to be a match. Poor Simon is such a trooper. You can tell he's getting wise to the old nursing ploys. LOL

Too funny! And what a cutie! Your pittie is a patient old soul...my pups tried that with Beckett & his eyes bugged out...I thought I'd have to dig his claws out of the ceiling he was so freaked out, lol! 'Course he was swarmed by all 7 at once, all aiming for his dangling stuff...I didn't really blame him. Little piranhas! I miss puppies! jackie harris

I have a picture of Simon just like that- it was Aria's litter, ironically. We were all playing outside and I was getting food ready for the pups. I called Simon to follow me around front so they could eat and he didn't come. That's a first. I turned around and he's FROZEN, statue-like, with NINE doing their very best to nurse. I swear, he IS the kindest soul in an animal's body I've met thus far- he gave me a half wag of his tail when I noticed and patiently waited for me to move them all. See, I'm truly evil, so I grabbed the camera first. When I took the shot a couple were already discovering it was a no-go and had found there food, but you get the general idea. LOL!

When they're being weaned is generally the time they're also exploring more and meeting the other dogs and he's spent a lot of time with all my litters- he's like the world's coolest uncle- always wants to play, always lets you win, and never gets mad at you like Mom does. Now, he's just finally getting more wise to the 4 week teeth and desire to nurse on anything hanging down. Omg Smile

That's Aria, right in front, at his mouth, attempting her charms.
