Xeph

I know this boy's strengths and his weaknesses, but those are the ones seen through my eyes.  It's always interesting to hear other opinions

Head shot.  Please note that his ear has dropped due to a hematoma.  It stood prior to that :)

I can say he has a rather small head, his ears betray the gsd standard and that he fell short in pigmentation, otherwise he is well built, strong, good backline, good tail(as in the picture here) and a good short-dense coat. All these are in the periphery as the health and temperament are the key things. Overall remark: since he's either a pet or working dog, and not showdog, i give 80% leaving 20% for health and temperament.

I can say he has a rather small head for his size, his ears betrays the gsd standard and that he fell short in pigmentation, otherwise he is well built, strong, good backline/well laid croup, good tail(as in the picture here) and a good short-dense coat. All these are in the periphery as the health and temperament are the key things.  his ears betrays the gsd standard

Please remember that I mentioned that his ears stood for 7 years prior to this photo, lol.  The ear dropped due to a medical procedure

Thank you for the compliments and critique overall.  I agree wtih you on the pigment.  On any other dog, it drives me NUTS....but I can admit this guy is very special to me.  He is an active service dog, and has his CD, RN, and CGC titles.  Due to my health, inexperience, and lack of funds, I was never able to get his schutzhund titles.

While I do regret that in a way, the help he gives me everyday often reminds me that he far exceeded any expectations I ever had for him.  His temperament is second to none, and is the standard by which I hold all my other animals.  He has great strength of character, excellent discernment, and there is no better first dog I could have had than this boy :)

Here he is in his working harness (prior to his ear falling)

he is fantastic!
love his high wither, strong shoulder topline and croup.
color has faded.

Looking at the ear that IS still standing, they were never perfectly shaped and spaced !  And yes its a pity about the pigment - but I expect that was better when he was younger ?  How old is he ?  *OOOpps, should have read your posts title!  Looks to me like a grand ol' trooper that you are - and should be - proud of.  Overall he's quite well constructed.
His good thick coat makes his neck look a little short & 'stuffy' and I think does not help the proportional
look of his head.  But he has a nice kind expression.  Glad he's been such a good dog for you; I think he's great !  What's his pedigree ?

Anyone ?   I bet this dog could win a Veteran Class or two;  does AKC / UKC have such things at their shows ?;  or do you ever have 'fun' shows, like we have here in the UK ?
