I have two German Shepherds that I imported from Slovakia; both are registered there and I am considering breeding them however, I was not sure how I would go about getting a pedigree for their puppies? Do I need to AKC register both of them or is there a way to get a pedigree through one of the foreign registries where the parents were born?

You need to register them with AKC, if you're in the US. If not, register with the kennel club of that country.

Correct, if in the US you will need to first register both parents with AKC, then you will be able to register any progeny with AKC.

You will also need to get AKC-DNA before registering any progeny...But first comes the AKC Registrations...You will need an Export Pedigree to register them with AKC...

I am so glad you posted this question GSDMB! I've been wondering this same thing. Currently we are living in Belgium and have recently bought some GSDs that we plan to take back to the states with us in a few years. We are wanting to breed them but wondered about having them registered there. We have pedigrees here from the breeder. Do we need anything else or will those do?
