Recently the WUSV held its annual certification seminar for Show and Working Judges. The seminar and certification program is open to all  Member Clubs within the WUSV.  Proudly, The GSDCA, one of 2 WUSV member clubs for the United States of America sent two Conformation Judges to the qualification seminar in Germany this year.  Morton Goldfarb has been this countries only full SV Breed Judge for many years as well as an AKC Breed Judge for even longer and he attended,  passed the test and evaluations required and became licensed as a WUSV Breed Judge.  Helen Gleason, a very well known and respected AKC German Shepherd Dog Judge who trains, trials and shows her own dogs as well  judges the breed also attended. She too met all the requirements of the program and became our countries second fully licensed WUSV Breed Judge.  Both Morton and Helen are long time activist in the German Shepherd Dog Club of America and seriously committed to the SV programs promoted by GSDCA.  Both Morton and Helen deserve a great deal of praise and respect for their efforts and devotion to our beloved breed.

Now the GSDCA has the proud distinction of having the only 2 fully licensed and certified World Union Breed Judges in this country. More importantly,  either of  our two respected Judge are positioned and qualified to judge at any and all WUSV Member Club's Breed Shows in this country or throughout the world. A review of the WUSV Website and listings of licensed WUSV judges regrettably and conspicuously lists no Working Dog Judges in this country as being WUSV licensed. Hopefully we will soon see judges from our 2 Member Clubs seek and receive licensure as WUSV Working Dog Judges.

Congrats to the two new conformation judges.   For performance  judges, there are 3 SV judges in Canada :

Congrats to them;  and to the UK judge who also attended and passed.

Can Richard, or anyone, please clarify for me:  I knew Morton Goldfarb was an

SV judge already;  just how does this WUSV License differ from already being

approved as an "SV Judge"  ?

SV licenses expire at age 70. The WUSV License continues. We have and have had several working dog judges in the US who are SV Licensed either as an Auslander or Full SV Judges. An Auslander (aka SVF judge) can judge any where in the world other than Germany. Full SV Judges (referred to as just SV judge)  can judge anywhere in the world including Germany. Except for Dr. Goldfarb we have had no full SV Judges for Conformation in many years. Jack O'Gren, prior to his passing a number of years ago, was a full SV Breed Judge. Fred Lanting was and may still be an SVF Breed Judge.

I believe Fred still has his SVF license and still judges in foreign countries.

We held our SV show in December. It was Helen's club and she invited some AKC judges to attend. Margit van Dorrsen was our judge and she was gratious enough to invite those judges into her ring as she offered her verbal critiques. She explained to the AKC judges why she placed the dogs as she did and answered any questions they had.

I am hoping other SV US clubs do that too so AKC judges can better understand the conformation and temperament of the German dogs making them eligible to test for their SV licenses.

Blitzen, now you talking, this is the music to my ears.Temperament and than conformation, and that should open some AKC judges minds.I had a dream that more AKC judges will attend to German Shows  and learn from the German judges more, this way they can start implementing those rules in the AKC Shows.Dog which shows very poor, insecure, scittish temperament no matter how beautifull conformation is should be excuse and refused to be judge. This way we will eliminate dogs which don't deserve to be bred and produce.Blitzen after all is all about the good for the breed and i hope you will agree on this with me ?

Here's the list of WUSV judges.

I would like to see Rudiger Mai and Dr. Goldfarb in the ring. What a great combination to show the GSDCA can serve from within and what a draw for the event.
