If breeders have pups on the ground and ready to go, how will the buyers be able to take them home? (Here in the USA.)
How many good reputable breeders will be out of breeding German Shepherds due to lack of income or loss of jobs?
What about people waiting for their pups from Europe?
This is a real mess for everyone worldwide.
Stuck at home, and thinking about all this and hopefully our world will be back to somewhat normal.

I'm not sure it will ever be "normal" as we know it.

the whole world has been pretty much shut down by one person eating a raw bat. who said one person can't make a difference?

and where did this happen, probably the biggest enemy of the whole world, regardless of religion, race, creed, color, origin or sexual orientation.

and whether it was mutation, accidental or what not, they are taking notes.

what if this starts happening every year or 2.

Guess the breeder and buyer would have to wear gloves, masks, and social distance the best they could. Payment could be electronic before pick-up. A big thing might be bathing/wiping down the puppy at the time of the transfer, "just in case." If I had puppies in the house, I'd be masked all the time when practical, and for sure masked and gloved when in contact with them, whether in a kennel, barn, house, car, vet, etc., or outside with them. A royal PITA, but I would hate to unknowingly be sick and then give it to a puppy, dog, cat, etc., or indirectly to another human being. If I had symptoms, someone else would have to take care of the puppies and transactions.

If I were in this situation, I'd definitely heed the advice of my doctor, veterinarian, USDA, CDC, and anyone else germane that has expertise/knowledge that would help protect the animals and people.

Anyone know what the breeders did during the Spanish Flu pandemic?

Looking back I really consider myself very lucky...I Imported a female from Europe in the middle of December...then I brought in 2 males from Europe in the middle of February...
Now with this virus mess and flights cancelled I don't see when things will change for the better...

I have a litter on the ground right now. Puppies will be in a crate by the time they get picked up. We will pick the puppy based on the persons need. Masks, Gloves and social distance will be required. I was worried about a large size litter and luckily only got four, that being said, I could have easily sold 10... people are definitely out buying puppies right now.

Yup, had a friend of my sister-in-law who was looking for a Golden. I referred her to a breeder I knew that came highly recommended. She had 20 puppies on the ground from 2 different bitches: all but one of them was spoken for by the time the pups were 4 weeks old!

And this was just a week ago.

I have ordered 2 pups from around Europe since last year money paid so no backing out . I had one order from joan in America but personal reason had to back out. One pup in in Poland and one in Czech. The one in Poland is not dew yet to come over. The one on the Czech was due over at the end of the month. Obviously didn't happen and no date set as of yet to when I will receive her. I'm lucky I bought of people who care about the bree program and are doing an incredible job raising these pups. Iv been sent videos regularly and am not worried about the pups environmental stuff as its been done to a high standard. But it will be still nice to get them 😁. But as I say you get what you pay for most of the time. And for the record I'll still be getting a pup from joan in the future that I will gaurtee. That woman knows how to breed some seriously nice dogs.

Frankly, people are so worried about socializing and exposing puppies it's weirding me out. I'm not worried about any of it. If the genetics are right, you don't need all that shebang. The main reason why I have my own protocol is to see whether or not there are weaknesses, not to build confidence.
