UK Pet Passport rules changing 1st January 2012! - Page 1

As from January 1st 2012 pets will be able to travel into the UK without the need for a blood test and quarantine period of 6 months before entry.

As from January 1st the requirement is for a passport, microchip and a valid rabies vaccination.  There is no requirement for tick treatment and the tapeworm treatment is under review.  There has to be a 21 days waiting period for pets having their first rabies jab before they can enter. 

This means as from January 2012 a person residing in the UK can purchase a puppy from another country (with some exceptions) and have it brought in at 15 weeks old rather than the current minimum of 10 months of age!

Great news for anyone in the UK wanting one of our breed from a puppy and/or wanting the White Swiss Shepherd gaining seperate breed recognition in the UK as numbers/ownership need to rise there before the UK KC will even consider recognition.

UPDATE .......

DEFRA have confirmed that tapeworm treatment will still be required under the new 2012 Pet Passport regulations.
Treatment will need to be given by a vet no less than 24 hours or more than 5 days before entering the UK.
