My GSD female is in heat for about 8 days now and letting my young male mount her, even moves the tail. But he can't find the spot. He mounts her makes his moves but his penis doesn't go inside. Is there anything I can do to help him penetrate her?

Let me get this straight?? You are trying to breed your 1.5 year old female to your 10 month old male!!?? According to your other post NEITHER dog has had the hips and elbows xrayed!? Why not wait until both dogs are of the CORRECT age, have had hip and elbows xrayed and have some working titles. Even with all the health testing and temperment testing done this still does not mean these two dogs should be bred!

Also, not sure if  you are here in the USA or not. But if you are I hope you are aware you will NOT be able to get AKC papers on this litter (if it happens, which I hope you seriously reconcider) because the male is under 12 months of age.

yes, Jyl, you are right. I looked into it and I can't get AKC papers on the pups if he is under a year old. Guess I'll have to wait. They are both gorgeous dogs with great calm personality yet a great prey drive and desire to work. Every time I take them out to town people ask me if they can have a puppy so I figured if she does get pregnant, why not? But will be a lot better when they have papers. Just out of curiousity though, if he still keeps missing "the spot" the next time she is in heat is there a technique to help him out?

PS.
yes I'm in the US and it's the female on my avatar, her name is Laura.

Thanks for your help, guys!

Hes to young. He has no idea what to do...lol

And if you are going to wait then thats great. But i would wait untill both have been certified for there hips and elbows at the very least.which is 2yrs for OFA. The last thing you want to do is cause some familys nightmare because there hips were bad and you didnt have the parents  checked before they were breed.
Just keep in mind the whole idea to breed is to "better" the breed. Not just because "why not".
Right now they are great house pets but there is a insane amnt of purebred shepherds in the shelters that people dont want. Dont add to that population.
Raising a litter of pups if done porperly will never make you money. My last litter i was in the Red by$1500.00. Vet care, extra food, quality puppy food. And then there is always 1 or 2 that stay alot longer than you planned. And then the countless hours you put into those puppies(which is sooooo fun) but time consuming!!

If they have great drive then go title them in something. Wait until they are old enough and then see if you still have interest.

And im not trying to bash you in any way...just trying to give you some insight:)

I appreciate all your advice.
