I know these stand out: GSDPack, Lida Fleury, DJC, duke 1965 (now in Czeche), blackThornGSD, Silbersee & crhuerta. There are many good breeders on this forum, those I listed above I never heard negatives being raised against them, honest and very knowledgeable.
There are many trustworthy members on this forum who have contacts, very knowledgeable themselves with wealth of info who might, maybe if contacted privately, lead you to good breeders, some of these members are Gustav, Slamdunc, Preston, Sunsilver, Yellow Rose of Texas ........

Jennifer at Vom Mystical Haus (I'm biased lol)
Richard Shook at Southland Dog Sports
I would not hesitate to buy a dog from any of these :)

I like what she says on her website:
The market is swamped with German Shepherd Puppies and dogs for sale, how can the average buyer sift through it all? This is why I always tell people the Breed has been divided 4 different ways. You have your EXTREME WORK, not always suitable for families, but desirable drive for Police or Sport homes, no “off switch”. You have your EXTREME SHOW. These are the dogs that acquire Championships and Best in Shows, they do not necessarily have to have the correct German Shepherd Temperament to do so. Did you know you could win the largest all Breed Show in the World and not even have to have Certified hips or elbows! You have your BACKYARD BREEDER, which nobody really knows what is being bred, it is just someone wanting to experience birth, or to sell puppies for make money. The true German Shepherd is the GOLDEN MIDDLE, the hardest dog to breed for, which is why it is hard to find a good German Shepherd because of the expense and difficulty in proving dogs are breedworthy. The German SV over looks the Breed and helps determine if dogs should be bred.
I would also trust Hans (Prager) from Alpine K9. www.alpinek9.com and Robin Huerta. http://teamhuertahof.com/
Ibrahim, thank you for the mention, but I would not include myself on that list. I have an excellent memory for pedigrees and similar information, and have gathered a great deal of knowledge about the breed, but don't have the hands-on experience to be included in that company.

This forum might have been a good resource for finding a good breeder when it started but now, not so much so. Most of the top ten breeders won't be posting here because they're too busy working their dogs to have time to post and are tired of arguing with pet people over things that the latter only know from what they've read somewhere on the internet rather than from any real experience. If you want to find a good breeder, you should find a club near you with people you like, watch their dogs work and decide what you like and don't like about them (and what you think you can handle) ask a million questions, then roll the dice and ask to buy a puppy from a breeding you think is what you want. If more novice buyers spent time at a club learning before they decided on a puppy, there would be a lot fewer surprised or disappointed puppy buyers in the German Shepherd Dog world.

There are some on here, whom you can believe in, but that takes time to figure out. We all have been fooled by a few. As seen lately on here, you'll notice birds of a feather flock together.
J Basler, I'm thinking you are not so dumb and can figure out who's who, pretty quick. :)
Breeder?
Sportwaffen- Grimmdog on here, never heard a negative thing about him. Knows his dogs, works his dogs, and can read a dog. He can find you what you are looking for if he doesn't have it.

I agree but don't see him on Ibrahim's list and he would be one of the breeders I mentioned who has little time for this nonsense. I watched 4 Sportwaffen dogs...every dog from his breedings that were in today's trial...get the BH and IPO1's they attempted. What are you doing with your Sportwaffen dog?

I've had enough GSD's to know a good one, and she is that, not a dog for everyone, but then, I didn't buy her to breed, I just wanted a watchful, loyal dog that has the gumption to finish what someone else may start, and she has it. Oh, and I wanted lots of hair and good looks, with better than average conformation and she has those in spades too. Could she do Schutzhund? Absolutely, she genetically does half of what is required without training. Do I? No. The horse racing business is a 7 day a week job,(with racing at night) and unlike some, I can't afford to quit it for my dog, although, I do take her to work with me.

All he listed in my opinion are honest people that breed the best GSD's they can. All work them and or show. There is no one he listed that I would not buy a pup from, so I hope the choir is listening.
Except one and that is DJC, nothing against them, I just do not know who that is!
